Book Description

August 5, 2010
David was always different from his brothers. Born and raised in the midst of South Florida s musical scene, he was marked as a sissy and mocked by the neighborhood boys. Introduced to Miami s gay nightlife, drugs, and reckless sexual escapades, he wonders if this is where he truly belongs, here in the arms of faceless strangers. As David wanders from one shadowy scene to another, stacking shame upon shame, he chooses to ignore the concerns of his estranged family and a mysterious, but comforting voice. Does this heavenly voice truly care? Is David, finally plagued by disease, destroying his life forever? Based on true events, David s story is one of misadventure, selfish exploration, disappointment, and ongoing scandal, but throughout its entirety, redeeming hope...a divine hope for life s fresh beginning in a moment of surrender and choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Story of God's Forgiveness and Redemption, August 17, 2010
This review is from: And Then Came Life (Paperback)
This book is a magnificant story of God's unfalling love and forgiveness. It starts out with dark and discriptive details, that can make one a little uncomfortable at times, however, necessary to portray the deep, dark abscense of God's presence in the life of David Goldberg. But in the end Jesus Christ, show's His mercy and forgiveness, which is a free gift to all of us who are deep in sin and who ask for it. It is a powerful tribute to the love that God has for each and everyone of us and that no sin is without forgiveness. Thank you for this story, I pray those lost in sin, unable to feel worthy of God's love will find the hope they are looking for in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking read on God's Grace, October 14, 2010
This review is from: And Then Came Life (Paperback)
I've never heard of biofiction before reading this book by Glenn Greenstein and Robert Parrish but I must say that I hope to find more biofiction put our by quality Christian authors. This book chronicles the story of a man who from his boyhood struggled with homosexuality, to a marriage, divorce to return to being a gay man, marriage, divorce, and then victory in Christ! This book had me gripped from the go since I never thought anyone could leave this lifestyle behind but I also know that the God I serve is great and He can do anything - He rescued me.

This book is not for the faint of heart, it is descriptive, and in that respect I was somewhat taken aback because I tend to stay away from books like that but I also know what the author's intent was - to make the reader feel what being in this lifestyle is like - addicting and controlling. Satan was at work to destroy this man's life and he almost succeeded in doing so but once again our Lord pulls him from the depths and raises him up. Some scenes were heartbreaking, parents whose only concern is where their next fix is coming from and a dad who belittles the masculine side of his son as were the man, David's life as a man lost in an evil world.

While I would say be cautious in who reads this I definitely see it being a benefit for those wanting to work with recovering homosexuals or who knows someone in that lifestyle. This book will hopefully make you stop and think the next you see a person living this life - David was shunned by Christians when he left that life and started attending a church - or who has left that life. As Christians we are told to hate the sin we are not to hate the person - God grieves at any of His people who leave Him and we need to do our best to bring the Truth to a hurting people while helping them heal.

**I was provided a copy of this book from Robert Parrish in exchange for my honest opinion, no other compensation was given.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a God Story!!, October 9, 2010

WOW!!! I started reading this book on a Friday night. As soon as I awoke on Saturday morning, I picked it up again. I knew this was a story about God's UNCONDITIONAL, LIMITLESS love and grace. I could not stop reading until I discovered how He would choose to deliver David from his life of hopelessness and destruction. While my story is very different from David's, I was repeatedly reminded of the pain and frustration I had felt during my search for acceptance, worth, and purpose. We all need to feel accepted, to know that we have value, and to know that our lives have meaning and purpose. This is what David was searching for, and this is what he found in Jesus. That is what this book is about. Thank You, God, for your relentless pursuit of David! You never stop loving us, and You never give up on us NO MATTER WHAT WE DO!

There is no real, true life apart from Jesus. He is Life itself! He brought David out of darkness and despair. That is what Jesus will do for anyone and everyone who calls on His name for help. He is THE SOURCE of everything good. He wants to give everything He has to you--including His very Life. Just ask Him for it. When you do, you will never be the same again!
