5.0 out of 5 stars Roxanne St. Claire wows us again!
THEN YOU HIDE by Roxanne St. Claire is the second in the "Bullet Catchers Trilogy." Able to stand alone, you won't want to put down this story of suspense, intrigue, murder and of course a fantastic love story. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good, with some problems
Readers who like the Bullet Catcher series will no doubt want to read this, and enjoy it. Still, what's with the current trend in this genre of having the female leads be absolutely stupid? Several mystery/romances that I have read lately are like this one...there's a killer on the loose, and the woman refuses to take the advice of the hero who is a trained...

5.0 out of 5 stars Roxanne St. Claire wows us again!, June 23, 2008
By
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
THEN YOU HIDE by Roxanne St. Claire is the second in the "Bullet Catchers Trilogy." Able to stand alone, you won't want to put down this story of suspense, intrigue, murder and of course a fantastic love story. Once again Ms. St. Claire wows us with her prose, keeping us on the edge of our seats until we've turned the final page.

Wade Cordell isn't really a Bullet Catcher - at least not yet. So far he has worked only contract jobs for them but now they want him to be a permanent part of the team. But Wade is just not sure that is what he wants to do with his life. While he's making up his mind he takes an assignment that lands him in the Caribbean. It is supposed to be more vacation than work. It seemed simple, find Vanessa and bring her back to meet her birth mother. He finds out fast enough that this is no vacation.

Vanessa Porter is looking for her best friend. He disappeared a month earlier and her gut is telling her that something is definitely wrong. She takes a vacation from her high-powered job with a investment firm and tries to follow his path. The only friend she's had in years she won't stop searching for Clive until she finds him. Even if a hunk who qualifies as an "11" on her scale tries to stop her!

The sparks fly between these two from their first meeting and you'll be as hot as the Caribbean sun while waiting for these two to finally get together. And boy when they do, I'm surprised the pages weren't smokin'.

Ms. St. Claire has another winner here! The story is gripping and drags you through the beautiful Caribbean on a deadly chase and a race against time. I loved FIRST YOU RUN but THEN YOU HIDE blew me away. The story is excellent and the sex is scorching. Trust me you will want to take this book and hide so you can finish it in one sitting as I did. Excellent job Ms. St. Claire, I am waiting with bated breath for the next book in this dynamic trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars SUN, SURF, SEX AND SUSPENSE - NOT NECESSARILY IN THAT ORDER!, August 16, 2008
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sun, surf, sex and suspense - Bravo! Fans of Roxanne St. Claire will surely applaud her latest read - THEN YOU HIDE - proving once again she's Queen of Suspense. The second in her trilogy of Bullet Catcher adventures is guaranteed to keep you reading through the night for the ultimate "who-done-it" conclusion. Vanessa Porter, a 31 year old Wall Street high flyer, is in the Caribbean, but not to take advantage of the sunshine. She's on a mission to track down her colleague and best friend, who mysteriously disappeared while on vacation. Meanwhile, Bullet Catcher Wade Cordell is on a mission of his own. He's been assigned to track Vanessa down. Seems Vanessa is the only chance in helping solve a thirty year old mystery and save a woman's life - a convicted murderer who happens to be her birth mother. Ms. St. Claire treats her readers to 349 pages of a wild ride in the Caribbean sunshine with this latest Bullet Catcher adventure! Be sure and watch for the last book of the trilogy - NOW YOU DIE (available September 2008). Mine is already on order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than All The Rest, June 23, 2008
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm a fan of the Bullet Catchers, and this book was, in my opinion, the best of a really good series. This time, the author paired a hard-edged heroine with some real pain in her past and a super sexy gentleman hero who actually believes in commitment. I loved these two together! The story takes place in the Caribbean Islands, and starts off with action and never lets up. The plot twists come fast and furious from the beginning to the end. Like the first book in the trilogy, the Bullet Catchers want to find the daughter of a woman in jail who needs a bone marrow transplant to live. And that's where the similarity to the first book in the trilogy ends - this story is completely stand alone (something readers will like, I think, so they don't have to read the first one, but it's good, too) and these two characters go on an entirely different kind of adventure. The sex is steamy, the bad guy was a total surprise and there are a couple of secondary characters that are unforgettable. I can't wait for the last book in the trilogy - and it's out in August. I love Lucy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Roxanne St. Clair is amazing!, July 5, 2008
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
As a long time Bullet Catchers fan, I'm always amazed that Roxanne St. Claire can make me love the current book even more than I did the last book. How does she do this every time? THEN YOU HIDE is even better, if that's possible, than FIRST YOU RUN, the first book in this latest trilogy of stories about the Bullet Catchers.

None of Roxanne St. Claire's books are to be missed, but I really enjoyed Wade and Vanessa. Ms. St. Claire captured the feel of the islands, made me believe I was there -- hiking through jungles, picnicking on beaches, and cruising from island to island. This is an author who knows that romantic suspense means ROMANCE + SUSPENSE = a great read!!

This author gets better and better. I will eagerly await NOW YOU DIE, the next book in the trilogy. I want to know what happens with the over-arching mystery throughout the three books, but more than that, I want to see Lucy, the Bullet Catcher boss, get her happy ending. :)

This was another great story by a fabulous author at the top of her game! Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking action - 4.5 stars!, July 8, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Bullet catcher Wade Cordell is sent to the Caribbean to locate the adopted daughter of a woman falsely imprisoned for murder in need of a bone marrow transplant. Financial whiz Vanessa Porter is in the islands searching for a friend who disappeared and doesn't appear to want to be found. She reluctantly makes a bargain with Wade - she'll travel to South Carolina and get tested if he helps her locate her friend Clive. As the two piece together Clive's odyssey, it's apparent that something shady is going on and Vanessa has stepped into the middle of it.

St. Claire's latest "Bullet Catcher" story has all the thrills, suspense, and spicy romance readers come to expect from the series. Wade and Vanessa couldn't be more opposite - he's a southern gentleman yet lethal; she's a brainy feminist with a penchant for foul language and avoidance of love - yet both are drawn to each other. As St. Claire dangles many red herrings and weaves an intricate plot that just doesn't let up, readers will be swept up in the story. I typically hate when authors make me buy multiple books in order to get the whole story - but St. Claire gift for dialogue, plotting, pacing, and storytelling makes me want to be a faster reader! While it can certainly stand on its own, check out "First You Run" to get background on the storyline, then sit back and enjoy the ride

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Page-Turner, June 13, 2008
By
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Southern gentleman Wade Cordell is the best marksman in the military. Or he was until he left because he was tired of killing people for a living. When Lucy Sharpe offers him a full-time position with the Bullet Catchers instead of the part-time consulting work he's been doing, he waffles. He knows Bullet Catchers protect their clients, but he hasn't forgotten that sometimes they have to kill in order to protect. So Lucy offers him a "gimme" - a simple assignment to find a woman who's on a vacation in the Caribbean. Find her and take her to meet the woman who gave birth to her and then sold her to a black market adoption ring. The woman who's serving a life sentence for murder. The woman who is dying a needs a bone marrow transplant from a relative. Wade tracks her down on St. Kitts, but Vanessa Porter is a keen negotiator. Before the Wall Street investor with the killer instincts will agree to visit this woman, Wade must help her find her work associate who's decided to drop out in the islands. What follows is murder and mayhem that takes Wade and Vanessa from island to island, following a trail of clues, which might be leading them to their man - or not. And while Wade is falling in love with the woman he's supposed to find and protect, Vanessa is fighting the emotions because she can't possibly love a man who killed for a living, any more than she can care for a woman who is not only serving time for murder, but who sold her like an unwanted lamp. Rapid-fire dialogue and a plot full of twists and turns highlight this second book in Ms. St. Claire's 2008 Bullet Catchers trilogy. This bodyguard is to die for and he steams up the love scenes like rain on asphalt in August. He's met his match in Vanessa, a spitfire with a brilliant business sense but who considers herself unworthy of anyone's love. You won't be disappointed in this fast-paced romantic suspense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catch Up on the Bullet Catchers, July 6, 2008
By
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved the first book in this trilogy, so while I waited for the newest one, I read the whole series from the beginning. I loved them all! These guys are my kind of heroes - of course they're gorgeous and smart and skilled with a gun, plus they are incredible lovers - but every one of them has a vulnerability and a weak spot, and that's what I read romance to find.

In Then You Hide, the hero is a Marine sharpshooter who isn't entirely comfortable with his ability to kill with ease. The heroine is a pacifist who, because her father was killed in a carjacking, is opposed to guns. He needs her to come home from the Caribbean to help her birth mother, and she needs him to help her find her missing friend. Together, they have to solve the mystery and get past how opposite they are. She is a speed-walking, sharp-talking New Yorker and he is a slow, deliberate southern boy. There are some wonderful scenes that highlight how different these two really are - but how wildly attracted they are to each other. The pace was non-stop, the island setting was just dreamy (and very steamy!) and the plot twists were clever all the way through.

This was probably my favorite Bullet Catcher so far (although I really loved Kill Me Twice, too) but I'm pretty sure that Lucy Sharpe's story will be the best of all. That one's out in August and I will be first in line.

Great summer reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked that I didn't like Vanessa., August 15, 2008
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
In this continuing story after Fist You Run, the Bullet Catchers are again hunting for triplet sisters whose mother gave them up for adoption. The mother was convicted of murder and is now dying in prison and needs a bone marrow transplant from one of her daughters who may be a donor match. Enter Vanessa Porter, a Wall Street barracuda, who does everything like a bat out of hell. Wade Cordell, Bullet Catcher and southern gentlemen, finds her abrasive and unlady like because of her foul language. But yet they have a chemistry that I think would have sufficed in this story as nothing more than lust and would have ended there in the real world. But that's why this is fiction and I definitely like this kind of fiction. It had plenty of action with car chases, helicopters, murder and guns. I enjoyed this book more than I did First You Run. It was a great book with great characters, from Vanessa to her gay friend Clive. We find out a bit more about Lucy and Jack and I can't wait for the next book. Roxanne's books are always fabulously entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling story with great characters, August 10, 2008

(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Then You Hide (The Bullet Catchers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Well this may be one of my favorite Bullet Catchers so far. This book is far more complex than some of the others in this series. We get more of She Who Runs The Bullet Catchers as well as her erstwhile lover (or is that lovers?) which is always a good thing for me.

The heroine is obsessed with finding her friend who doesn't seem to want to be found. She's sure he's suicidal. Her emotional motivation is exceptionally done. I found myself engrossed in this book. The minute I heard it was out, I downloaded it for my reader and stayed up half the night. Another night's sleep sacrificed to the words of St. Claire.

The hero thinks he's getting a cush job but when he arrives in the island paradise, bullets convince him otherwise. He has to keep her safe and keep his promise to her to help her find her friend.

The subplot involves a gay man who is suspected of murder. I found this character to be very realistic without being overdone the way some authors do. He wasn't a comic relief at all.

I have loved all of the Bullet Catcher series with only one leaving me a bit flat. For another great read by St. Claire go into her back list for "French Twist". Awesome thriller romance that is a scary rollercoaster ride.
