My first thought on hearing Marc Staggers' music was, "Now he gets it... that music is not just about hearing, it's about feeling." Every note of THEN & NOW goes deep into the heart of the listener, touching and comforting the very soul. The Washington DC based singer/songwriter with his resonant, rich voice is predominantly known for his work in the gospel arena (Mom and Pop Winans, Clifton Dyson), but effortlessly transitions to R&B/Smooth Jazz... a perfect fit. The opening track, "Give You All My Lovin'," leaves no doubt as to Staggers' sincerity when he tells his lady "he just wants to spend some time." "Just You And Me" is a tender, sensual caress, while "L.O.V.E." is touching and inspirational. This may be a first effort in a new genre for Marc Staggers, but demand for such a talent will no doubt guarantee that it is not a last! ~BETH LEWIS
