5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent film about AC/DC's early years
I thought this film was brilliant!!! It showed how AC/DC started out, covering the towns where they were raised and early stamping ground. Bon Scott's best friend Vincent Lovegrove gives an open description of what a lovely person he was. He also tells the last conversation he had with Bon before he died. Other Contributions from those that knew the band make it an...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not What I hoped For.
Finally the story of AC/DC could be told, or at least the story of Bon Scott. But it failed to mention so much that made the band what it is and just focus on little un important things or not go into enough detail about certain things. This review is from: And Then There Was Rock: Life Before Brian (DVD)
Finally the story of AC/DC could be told, or at least the story of Bon Scott. But it failed to mention so much that made the band what it is and just focus on little un important things or not go into enough detail about certain things. I really looked forward to this when i found out Malcolm Dome and Clinton Walker where behind it. The two guys who have written the best information on AC/DC in books. But in these interveiws, I found nothign new, and ALOT of missing information.

It should not have been cut down to 120 mins. It should have been a full on documentry that didnt worry about standard issue times. Its not a movie, so it didnt need to be cut down, plus only the hardcore AC/DC is going to take any interest in it. And quite frankly, being one, i'm not impressed.

The bonus features are of discographies of all the ac/dc and bon scott albums, plus a few bootlegs, which is a why? There not even the most popular ones and theres only 8 of a billion of them on it. There is also a quiz that didnt challenge me at all.

Overall, i'm kind of disapointed in this thing. I didnt learn anythign new that I didnt already know. Because its unautorised there is no AC/DC music heard, but the band they have to do some tunes over it really suck after you hear the same riff 100 times and it doesnt even match an AC/DCish sound.

Overall, it's ok I guess, but could have been ALOT better. Its mostly just interveiws, there is probably not more then 5 mins footage of Bon or AC/DC during the whole thing. Theres not alot of those rare pics it speaks of either.

Overall, its only for a hardcore AC/DC fan who's gotta own it all. Bt even then, dont get ya hopes up, its just 20% of whats in the books in an interview form.

1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE - DO NOT BUY!!!!, November 14, 2006
This review is from: And Then There Was Rock: Life Before Brian (DVD)
This dvd is terrible. You can tell the second you pop it in. The menu page graphic is terrible and then you have the text that appears that says it all..."This DVD does not include any AC/DC music" What the hell is that? This is basically someone making money by just interviewing anyone who has an opinion about AC/DC. Basically think of you interviewing your friend about the band, throwing in some stock photos and selling it to any chump who thinks its an actual AC/DC DVD with AC/DC music.

This dvd had nothing do to with AC/DC at all. It was boring and drab. I want to return this dvd. I felt like I was ripped off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy!!!!, January 24, 2006
This review is from: And Then There Was Rock: Life Before Brian (DVD)
A superb film on this fantastic band, it covers the early days of ACDC when Bon Scott was still alive. The DVD includes some great footage of the band, loads of photos and great interviews from original band members telling their stories of the early times and also close friends of the band.... Extremely worthwhile for all ACDC fans.

As a huge AC/DC fan who saw Bon with them in 78 before they really made it in America, this is not what I expected. It is only for the fan who absolutely has to have every bit of footage ever released on this band. If you simply like the band and want their best; get the Stiff Upper Lip DVD. I have watched that more than any other DVD I own, and saw the concert live.

4.0 out of 5 stars Customs Regulations, March 15, 2006

CHROME DREAMS, the company behind this product, obviously has its headquarters in New Malden, Surrey (UK). If AMAZON had enclosed a letter to point this out to customs, I wouldn't have had to pay duty on the product. It is an EU product and residents of EU shouldn't have to pay duty on EU products.

It ticked me off that I had to pay duty, to be honest.

In future, please enclose a letter to avoid future stamp duty. Thank you.
