I enjoyed this book from start to finish. Only problem is I am a Bulldog fan through and through. Anything with Herschel Walker is a must for me. So my review is bias but I enjoyed this very much.

I just got this book for Christmas, have read it twice in six days, and am thoroughly pleased. If you're looking for a book that gives a complete history of UGA football, this is for you. I have been following the Bulldogs since the 1950s and have at least two dozen books on Georgia football. This is one of the best I've read.
I respectfully disagree with the review by "Bob C." Although a portion of the book is more like great moments or games in Georgia Bulldogs history than stories, there are quite a few personal "stories" included. I have been a huge UGA football fan and follower for over 50 years and many of the stories in the book I had never heard or read. There are a few writing or editing errors but they are certainly not "all through the book." I recommend this book to any SEC football fan. It is one of the best researched on Georgia football that I have read.

Rehash of Old News Accounts,

I am a Bulldog fan and enjoyed reading about some of the great games, great players, and even some of the rough times in UGA football history. But, this book is NOT about Bulldog stories, and in fact, includes virtually no "stories" other than what "Hondo" tells on the accompanying CD. From what I could tell, there is practically no original material here, if any. This book is almost completely a rehash of newspaper accounts from over the years plus some information from other books and web sites. The author says as much when he describes how he wrote the book.
In addition, the editing is terrible! There are writing or editing mistakes all through the book; it is hard to believe the author is a professional writer and that a publishing company would produce something this sloppy. There are numerous sections with no transition to the next section, and there are many places where, as a curious reader, you would almost beg for additional details, that are never provided. To sum up, only the subject matter makes this book worthwhile at all. I wouldn't purchase this book. And, if you want personal stories about Georgia football, you'd do better with some of the other books that have been written. |
