5.0 out of 5 stars The Divine Logic behind Theology, August 20, 2008
This review is from: Theo-Logic: Theological Logical Theory : The Truth of the World Vol. 1 (Hardcover)
The publication of David Bentley Hart's The Beauty of the Infinite signals the new attention being paid to Hans Urs Von Balthasar and his impressive / monumental theological texts. Long thought as the second 'necessary' theologian of the 20th Century (behind Karl Barth), von Balthasar is finally being read on his terms by persons free of the nonsensical 'ratings' idea. The Glory of the Lord and the Theo-Drama have taken the spot light (their significance is too great to explicate here) and now Theo-Logic has begun to be read, contemplated and analyzed with the judgment that it is the sleeping Giant of his trilogy. If you are a theologian, philosophy, literary theorist, or contemplative, then you should get the 2 volumes of Theo-Logic and set aside a couple months - it will repay in abundance any time you can invest. Karl Barth and Hans Urs von Balthasar are the Thomas Aquinas & Bonaventure or our time - the Schleiermacher and Hegel
