We got this movie from the library, just to see how my kids(age 4 and 3 little boys) would like it before we buy it. My children wanted(and did!)to watch this tape all day long! They even asked me to download the cute theme song off the internet! I feel so comfortable with the Theodore movies, because they are not violent and this movie is about doing the right things, and just being polite and kind.I like that my boys can watch something positive and be entertained. I will definitely be buying this movie(mainly because my kids loved it sooo much!)!

I'm clueless why these have been taken off the market and aren't available on DVD (never were available on DVD). The programs are short segments that help hold attention of younger ones, and each segment has a positive moral or theme. Non-Violent and 'non-fast action' - with good moral lessons. And best of all - kids like it. For the older generation - the entertainment from an old Mamas and Papas Member - the host of the show - and 'Harbor Master' - the only actual person in the program. I plan to replace the missing Public Library with my purchase so others can continue to enjoy these programs.

I am nearing the end of high school and I have teenage tastes, yet there is something about Theodore Tugboat that is just very warm and funny. The tugboats are perfect for infants as eye candy, and then as the young ones grow a little older, they can understand the profound and heart-warming lessons provided by the tugboats.

Especially good is the rewatchability of all these episodes. Naturally, any parent who gets Theodore Tugboat for their child will end up watching them hundreds of times, yet they never get old! Unlike some of the soulless, commercial kid's stuff that T.V. has grinded out in recent years, Theodore Tugboat is a frank and uplifting show, full of life lessons while also being incredibly entertaining.

Although there are obvious similarities with Thomas, this series is just way, way better. Thomas' existence is more or less concerned with his desire to be called a really useful engine by the boss. That's the big payoff at the end of a successful episode. It's sickening. But, trains being an extremely cool thing, kids watch it anyway (well, not in my house they didn't :). Theodore episodes are like breathing fresh air after having been suffocated in the output of a paper factory. They have all the drama and conflict of shows like Thomas, but in the end they wrap it up with a straightforward statement about what was to be learned. I really liked watching these with my kid, and if the world were a just place, the market for Thomas stuff would have completely disappeared when this series became available.

pbs.org simply MUST bring this wonderful children's series back to tv for all generations. all the episodes are positive and they do entertain the brains. hope one of the producers are working on bringing these episodes back to kids tv!
