FOLLOW UP, MAY 12, 2014: The review below was submitted with a 3-star rating after receiving my copy of this book from Amazon. I returned the volume to Amazon and reordered the book - but not from Amazon. I ordered a new copy from "pbshopus", one of the sellers in the Amazon Marketplace. This copy is absolutely perfect. It's still glue binding, but it's secure and in no danger of cracking like the original copy I received. Therefore, I revised my rating to 5 stars.

ORIGINAL 3-STAR REVIEW, MAY 1, 2014: This volume, like every volume in the TDOT, deserves five stars for content. The quality of the scholarship, the theological and historical insights, the wide-ranging and broad-minded etymological, religious and intellectual background that is drawn for every Hebrew word and term, are all astonishing and representative of what is best about the modern era of biblical scholarship and theology. Volume 15 is the final volume of the dictionary per se, though there will be an additional Aramaic volume and one final comprehensive index volume. The content is extraordinary, the price is appropriately high for such an achievement.

But why does Eerdmans put out a volume of 824 pages with such cheap glue binding. Upon opening my copy - bought new from Amazon - the binding immediately broke in three places! And to make Eerdmans' production of this volume more incomprehensible they bound it in cloth! Why provide quality cloth binding with cheap, thin glue binding that breaks immediately upon opening the book? All my other volumes of this series are sewn-bound. I have ordered some other volumes that I've been missing, and I'm hoping those are not also glue-bound.
