Excellent book on professional research in health care,

This review is from: Theoretical Nursing: Development and Progress (Hardcover)
Theoretical Nursing is not only well written and researched - it's also very readable. Its significance goes well beyond epistemological issues related to nursing. The author does a great job of balancing breadth and depth of the very appropriately chosen topics. Concepts are readily applicable to other disciplines and leave enough room for critical evaluation. The bibliography is excellent.

I ordered this book because it was required for a class I was taking. The author is well known throughout the profession for her contributions, but I found the book difficult to understand and follow, especially with the reference for every other word in the sentence. The text for me, read more like an opinionated reference list. Good Luck!

Purchased this book for my grad class. It is the same stuff I learned in undergrad.

This review is from: Theoretical Nursing: Development and Progress (Hardcover)
This book encompasses everything that is wrong with academia. It is practically unreadable. The author thinks very highly of herself and tries her best to speak in what she must believe is a highly "academic" manner. Once you undress the big words and unneccesary statements, she basically repeats herself for paragraph after paragraph. Totally useless, waste of time, and an embarassment to nursing science.

HORRIBLE for students! I'm pretty intelligent, and this book was nothing but a researcher using every big word he had and every twist of the English language that he could think of to confuse the heck out of the reader.
