Editorial Reviews

Review

"I've read over a few of the activities and they seemed interesting and engaging. I like the introduction tips at the beginning of the book as well... explaining how the ideas in the book are used to start inquiry and begin discussions. I look forward to reading Skills and Practice! " --Jamie Lynn, Head of TOK, King High School, Florida

"I have reviewed the textbook and have found many elements helpful: alignment with the new TOK curriculum, variety of global perspectives and individual voices, wealth of discussion questions or questions for individual thought, and guidance on the assessments." --John Martin, TOK Teacher, Paxon School for Advanced Studies, Florida

"I have to say I like what I see. The book has been revamped completely and I think for the better. I am pleased to see that the language is teenage friendly: direct and with examples that they can relate to. There are a number of examples that I will certainly incorporate into what I do, for example the discussion activity on page 46." --Sheta Saha, IB Coordinator, Chatsworth International School, Singapore

Good ideas for activities and conversations, and to project on a screen. Suggest you cross reference with van de Lagemaat's book.

This book has some nice activities and is helpful for an instructor to understand the new framework of TOK. However, the writing is very difficult for many international students who do not read and write using English as a first language. The structure and overuse of jargon can make the reading unclear as well. I am not very happy with this new textbook and will not be buying it for my students. I will wait for something more interesting and inspiring for a DP TOK student.
