Product Description

The only resistive exercise bands endorsed by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Ideal for building upper and lower body strength for rehabilitation or fitness. Whether building strength after shoulder or knee surgery or improving athletic performance, our bands, tubing and corresponding resistance exercise programs can be easily and economically used for any exercise program. The progressive resistance of our products parallels the basic concepts of building strength and mobility. As each level is mastered, the resistance can be increased with ability. The use of elastic resistance rather than weight-bearing exercises minimizes pressure on the joints and decreases the possibility of incurring other injuries. They can be used while traveling, sitting at home or even in the office. Uses for the Thera-Band Bands include: exercise, gym, balance, fitness, birthing, yoga, pilates, and stability and resistance.

I like the different resistance bands.
Jane Corak
If you fold them in half, they are about the same thickness as my old ones, but they are too short to do arm stretches even.

It's great to work with through Physical Therapy, and for the average strengthening workouts.

I had high hopes for these bands (I'm a Trainer so I invested in a few sets of the heavy and a few sets of the light) - but the Heavy/Extra Heavy was no more resistant than my medium in other bands, and the light won't challenge even my beginner clients - would use the heavier with them. For the price I was going to deal with this by doubling the bands BUT I am having a major reaction to the product. This was totally unexpected since I don't have an allergy to latex (I use latex gloves when I'm cleaning) so I really didn't expect to have one from latex bands. To make matters worse, I made the mistake of whiping hair out of my eyes after touching them, and now that area of my face is tingling, too. UPDATE: Was talking with a friend who immediately said "wow, it must be the powder they put on it"...and that would explain it (there is a coating of powder that was all over my hands and dried them out) since I am not allergic to latex. Just a sad occurence...be careful and if you're fingers start to tingle after using DON'T touch your face...LOL

TheraBands have a long history of use in recovery from various joint surgeries or pinched nerves, and are especially useful in slowing osteoporosis. They avoid the danger of sudden shifting weight that can occur with hand held weights. The tension is steady and adjustable through use of color coded strenghts. They are perfect for home use and travel because they take up so little space and they won't hold you up in the security check-in line!

I'm 60 yr old, 5'4". My old Thera-Bands were much thicker. These bands are so thin they feel like they are going to snap and have NO STRENGTH to them. If you fold them in half, they are about the same thickness as my old ones, but they are too short to do arm stretches even. They should have a universal guide they all follow, one color (medium weight) should be the same strength, no matter who makes it. These WIMPY BANDS would be an insult to the Senior Citizens Center. They would laugh at them. I have trusted Thera-Band for many years, no more. It looks like Thera-Band has cut cost making them so Wimpy, the bands have no value or use. I also lost my money on them, by time I pay shipping and stocking fees, I would break even, so it would not be worth sending back, and the seller knows it. I went to the local Sports Store, so I can look, feel and measure them, before buying this time, than I know what I have before purchasing the bands.

Like a jerk, I bought these therabands, and then ended up not really using them for a few months, so I can't return them now because it's past the window. The red theraband BROKE the first time I used it. I wasn't even pulling it that hard. So I took the remaining piece of band and gave it a little tug and it broke AGAIN! Theraband is a good brand, but for some reason this batch was bad and now I am not sure where to turn to replace it.

Good product to use for stretching and resistance training. Different colors have different resistance levels. Good quality and can last a year or longer with daily use.

Items arrived promptly after ordering. The items are of the quality I would have expected for theraputic standards, or those used for physical therapy. We are pleased with the product.

Thera-Band Latex Exercise Band Pack - Light - 1 Thin/1 Medium/1Heavy - 5.5" X 5' - Free Shipping is a great way to improve your strength without going to the gym.

These bands work by providing direct resistance to your muscles. In order for a muscle to get stronger, it must constantly be challenged. For instance, if you pull on the light band 10 times a day, every day, you will NOT get stronger- simply because your muscles are used to doing it 10 times already and have no reason to get stronger. HOWEVER, if you try to pull on the band 12 or 15 times, well, your muscles aren't used to that and now have a reason to get stronger. This is called progressive resistance and is how all muscles get stronger.

That's why this pack of therabands is so great- when you can do your exercises with the light band, simply switch to the medium one and you'll get stronger. Cheap, portable, and effective- everything you'd want in an exercise device! Also recommend Strength Band Training (American Sport Education Prog) for more on getting stronger with resistance bands.
