5.0 out of 5 stars Hits the Spot!
Buy this odd-looking, yet extremely handy device if you have a hard-to-reach spot that needs constant attention. Especially useful for the back or if you need to apply a good amount of pressure on spots such as the bottom of the foot. Things I like best about it include:

3.0 out of 5 stars effective for large muscles only
I have noticed Thera Cane Massager to be effective only for large muscle groups. It is fairly effective for individuals with larger musculature. I am a small person and for my back Thera Cane does not work very well. All the round knobs are too large and slip-off the trigger points easily, especially on the para-spinal muscles. It is difficult for me to pin-point...

This review is from: Thera Cane Massager (Sports)
Buy this odd-looking, yet extremely handy device if you have a hard-to-reach spot that needs constant attention. Especially useful for the back or if you need to apply a good amount of pressure on spots such as the bottom of the foot. Things I like best about it include:

-it's lightweight
-handles positioned so you can keep pressure on a spot while rubbing
-is in the shape of a "hook" so virtually no spot is out of reach

Intended for those who need to regularly massage out tense areas in the muscles, it's a very useful tool- and cheaper than therapy! Also recommend Treat Your Own Spinal Stenosis if you suffer from chronic back pain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful, August 15, 2007

One thing to remember when using this cane, that I learned through my own research, is that if you are having any kind of muscle pain then you might want to consider if it's the fascia that's locking in that muscle pain. Fascia is best described as a type of saran wrap that covers all of your muscles in your body. It can be damaged by many things, including prolonged sitting.

Anyways, you want to use this cane in a manner that goes in the opposite direction of the muscle. Example: the muscles in your legs run vertically so if your problem is in this area, then you should find a position on the floor where you can extend your leg and use short strokes horizontally on the trouble spot. Pull a little bit like you would when you stretch then release. You have to probe around to find where the spot on your body is where the fascia is crosslinked. If this is what the problem is then you will know because it is almost painful when you pull it at first in the opposite direction. Work at it a few nights a week, not too much at first. Best done when the muscles are warm(after a shower or use a hotpack) then stretch out the area The muscle can't be stretched properly without breaking these crosslinks.

After you break the crosslinks you need to stretch EVERY night to make sure that the muscles don't crosslink again, especially if you have a job where you sit down all day. In as little as a week they can start to re-form.

I have done a lot of personal research on the web because I wasn't getting very many positive results from any of the professionals that I saw. I worked on myself and now I have no more of that nagging pain that use to run down my right leg.

I also sit on a towel covered rolling pin in my car to relieve the pressure in the back of my upper thighs and it has helped tremendously.

It worked for me...might work for you also. Goodluck!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best $29.00 I've ever spent!, August 9, 2006
I love the thera cane! I've had muscle-related back problems for over 10 yrs. However, the last 2 yrs have been really bad. I've done chiropractor, massage, acupuncture and nothing stuck - plus I got tired of spending all that money on them. The first time I used the thera cane I almost cried!! Within about 20 minutes I was completely pain free. It's been such a long time since I could move around w/o pain. Although the pain came back, with each session it gets less and the pain-free time gets longer. I believe I've broken the cycle. I just used it in the morning before work, then after work and then before bed. If your pain is muscle-related, the thera cane is well worth it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars love, Love, LOVE this thing!, January 9, 2007
By
I usually will not take the time to review items, but I HAD to make the exception for the Theracane. This is one of the best things I have bought myself and it has been affectionately dubbed "the boyfriend" due to the amount of timne I spend with it. Getting your mind out of the gutter, I could barely move when I purchased this. I had prior experience with a similar device years ago. One of my friends had been given by our NFL team and I loved it and wanted one, but never had gotten around to getting it.

Enter high stress job where I travel every weekend. Sitting on a plane hours at a time and sleeping in different 4 different beds 12 nights a month started wreaking havoc on my body. Not to mention, I'm fairly intense to begin with. I love this thing because I can get in there and use as much pressure as I am comfortable with. I like hard pressure and most massage therapists can't get in the muscle like I can with the Theracane. After about a week of 3 times a day with the Theracane and the use of the Trigger Point therapy book, I felt like a new person. My back and shoulders relaxed, I found places on my legs and arms that were very painful and with some work, I now move more freely.

The cane is very sturdy, I'm sure one could break it, but it would take some effort. I have knocked myself upside the head with it while trying out different ways of using it, as it is a bit awkward. However, there is a little booklet that comes with it that gives you ideas and also there is a DVD that you can buy, but I have no idea what is on that.

I use it working at the computer, watching TV, after the gym, on the road (it will fit in a 25" rolling suitcase at a diagonal angle.) My real boyfriend uses it as he does not like strong pressure and can use as little as he likes, my work partner has also purchased on after my rave reviews of it and I will most likely have it with me when I visit family and get them hooked on it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars This simple device helped me a lot, August 17, 2005
By
I've had episodes of upper back pain for years and tried many things including pain killers, heat, ice, massage, stretching, but they only offered temporary relief at best. The pain would last for days on end. Theracane helped me apply stong, precise pressure on the tender points -- something that is almost impossible to do otherwise. It helped relieve and shorten the duration of the pain. If you have similar pain due to myofascial trigger points, Theracane might help you too.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME, October 18, 2007

This is really worth the money. If you're always wanting someone to dig into those sore spots, you need this. You can use it to dig into those spots when nobody is around or when they are tired of doing it for you. It comes with a handy manual too that shows all the different ways you can use the theracane.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great at breaking up those knots, June 26, 2007
If you suffer from tight shoulders and upper back then this cane is a must for you! You can choose how much pressure to apply and the cane itself is indestructable. My Chiropractor actually tried to break it and ended up pulling a muscle and then had to use the cane to relieve the tightness in the muscle. The instruction booklet is great and there are many different areas of the body you can use it on but I typically use it for my upper back and shoulders and sometimes my neck. Co-workers ususally point and laugh and ask me how much I paid for my "car club" until they try it. As a result four of my friends have bought one too. Well worth the price and it will last you a lifetime.

I'm only thirty, but I do hard work out on my farm as well as swimming. I was getting tight, knotted muscles in my back and shoulders that were restricting my movement and dully hurt. I'm single, though, so had no good way to get them out. I was looking for something to help when I came across these reviews and decided to buy a Theracane for myself. Oh, is it wonderful!

It's very easy to use and easily got out all the knots in my muscles. Right after it was delivered, I spent about 30 minutes gently working the knots out of my shoulders and back while I watched TV. That felt so wonderful, so I worked the last knots out of my shoulders a little bit later that day. It felt so good to be free of stiffness and pain! I felt like I was fifteen again. I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS THING IS AWESOMO, July 1, 2006
I can't believe this thing. People who saw it laughed at me and said it looks a plant hanger. Maybe it does, but wholy crap--it gets deep...real deep and allows me to massage every single spot on my back and crack everything. It works harder than any massage therapist I've been to. I use it EVERY SINGLE DAY. No joke. This was the best $30 I have ever spent. If you got back problems (and who doesn't), you cannot beat this thing. My pain management dr. showed it 2 me because I asked him if there was anything I could do except pop the Oxycontin. I ordered it from Amazon..had it 3 days later. I can't say enough good about it. Get it--you will not be sorry.
