The finest work on psychotherapy of its kind.,
By Randalli "Oz Lover" (Oakland, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Therapeutic Dialogue: A Guide to Humane and Egalitarian Psychotherapy (Paperback)
Sharma has brought together mounds of research, experience, and practical wisdom to create this superb volume on psychotherapy. He masterfully critiques the misapplication of the medical model to the psychotherapeutic endeavor. His understanding of social and cultural pressures and their role in emotional struggles leads to a broader understanding of clinical work. The therapeutic dialogue represents both the dialogue between therapist and client as well as the dialogue between client and society. His analysis of the therapist's role in psychotherapy is in-depth and quite useful, with lots of examples. Lastly, his suggestions on therapeutic technique are thoughtful and original in their blending of theory and practice.
