All Recreational Therapists should have a copy,

This review is from: Therapeutic Recreation (Paperback)
All Recreational Therapists should have a copy of Dr. David Austin's "Therapeutic Recreation: Processes and Techniques" (6th edition) in their personal library. This book is great for college students who are studying to become a recreational therapist/ therapeutic recreation specialist. This book is a great resource for professional Recreational Therapists (RTs) a.k.a. Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (TRS). Dr. Austin writes in a way that is easy to read and understand. Chapters in his book focus on theories, the therapeutic recreation process, helping others, communication skills, leadership skills. There are many topics relative to recreational therapy/ therapeutic recreation practice. Chapter 3 on facilitation techniques is my favorite. Dr. Austin provides a brief overview on a wide-range of techniques that recreational therapists could use. Some of these facilitation techniques include: humor, relaxation techniques, cinematherapy, bibliotherapy, aquatic therapy, tai-chi, creative arts, and animal-assisted therapy, among others.
