Best practical handbook on EMDR!!,
By
This review is from: A Therapist's Guide to EMDR: Tools and Techniques for Successful Treatment (Hardcover)
I found Parnell's A Therapist Guide to EMDR so accessible and comprehensive, it was a pleasure to read. It is a great review for anyone who has just taken the courses or who wants to review and update their skills in EMDR. I loved the way she presented a technique and then often followed it up with very specific how-to case examples. I could clearly see Parnell's exceptional skillfulness and respectful caring for each of her clients' processes.
I also just find it helpful as a practical resource handbook to check up on a particular technique and read about the different aspects of it. Its a must have for EMDR therapists!

This is a clear and very readable text. While basic in some ways, it is a solid, helpful, elucidating guidebook, even for more advanced practitioners. Thank you once again, Laurel. I will continue to use it as a reference in my EMDR work, most happily, and will recommend it to my colleagues.

Laurel Parnell states, "This book is for EMDR trained therapists who want to know more about how to integrate EMDR into their psychotherapy practices," and that is exactly what it does! It is a practical book that gives a great deal of useful information on the implementation of EMDR with clients. As a therapist trained in EMDR, this book has been a wonderful bridge between the training I recieved and the actual use of EMDR in my psychotherapy practice. I have used this book as both a refresher course and as a guide to answer questions that come up as I work with clients. I highly recommend this book to all EMDR trained therapists as a resource and adjunct to their library.

Laurel Parnell writes the most clear, insightful and comprehensive books on EMDR. Although she is not the founder, she has taken EMDR in directions that are not only veery useful, she also has added more of the "heart and soul" to the technique. I highly recommend this and other books that she has written on the topic.

I love this book and reference it often. It is easy to read, but very helpful in understanding EMDR at a deeper level and how/when to use it and prepare clients. I would highly recommend this to any EMDR therapist, especially those working with highly traumatized clients.
