Hilarious fun for me and my 4 year old!,

This book is one of the cutest and funniest books ive read with my 4 year old son! We both giggled non-stop thru this book! We have read it every night since we got it and he laughs like it was the first time he heard it, every time. Priceless memory making!

Lots of fun,

This book is a lot of fun to read. The cats talk directly to the reader, and even tell him/her what to do sometimes. This just became the book all of my son's friends will be getting for their birthdays this year!

My almost-4-year-old received this book for Christmas. The first night we read it before bed, he asked to read it twice and laughed hysterically all the way through (I got some good giggles too, but I admit most of mine were from watching him enjoy the book so much). He woke up the next morning and asked to read it again and it's since become our most requested book.I like the simple interactivity (blow on the page, turn the page) that really involved him with the cats in the book. I plan on picking up a few copies of this for some upcoming birthday gifts.

Good But . . .,

First of all the most important thing to mention about this book is that my 17 month-old daughter loves it. From the very first time we opened it she started giggling, laughing, petting, and kissing the cats in the book. When she wants story time she brings us this book first. That alone to me is worth far more than 5 stars. The problem, however, is from the adult perspective. Some of the pages aren't really pages at all. They are connected to the book with a very thin line of paper making it far too easy for any overtly-excited child to rip out with no trouble at all. This isn't true for all the pages, but a good number of them. If you're kid is prone to turning the pages on its own and get excited about the book (or if it has a history of ripping out pages, like mine does) then this book won't last very long. The second problem (though I didn't deduct stars for it because I don't believe it's fair to criticize a product for features that were never meant to be included) is that the book often asks the child to pet the cat, or to admire how fluffy the cat is. Now my daughter has another book with furry animals in it that is a "touch and feel" book where the animals have "fur." When the book calls for her to feel the furry puppy she loves running her fingers through the fur. When this book does the same she starts petting the cat but it's just paper so she gets disappointed. Like I said, infinite stars for making my daughter so happy so fast, but realistically I'd like it to last more than a couple of days or weeks. Her other favorite books have lasted her 9 months already and are still going strong. I'll be amazed if this makes it through the week intact. Finally, something about the contents of the book. It's very interactive ("look at the wet kitty, can you blow on her to get her dry" the child blows on the cat and then "aw, thank you, see how fluffy and dry I am now?). There's plenty of "boxes" the cats are hiding in with flaps for the child to open and discover on her own and it's all in all very good for involving the kid in the book instead of just having a parent read while she looks at the pretty pictures. If you don't mind having it destroyed in no time I'd say definitely buy this . . . it will be worth it just to see the smile on your child's face.

An All-Time Favorite at Our House,

I knew from the moment I flipped through it at the store that my son would love it! I just didn't know how much he was going to love it! He asks for it every night at bedtime and only after about 5 readings, he has memorized most of the words. My son is 2 1/2 years old.One of his favorite parts is the page where the cats hide in the boxes. He loves flipping them open! Another favorite part is the end when he will kiss each cat goodnight. It's a wonderful book for bedtime because at the end, the cats go to bed! I love how interactive the book is! And I love how the pages are have cut-out, flaps and bright colors!!

Cutest book I have seen in a long time, and I am not even a kid. Everyone should share this book with a kid or a cat.

This book is a riot! As my cat-obsessed new reader and I were sitting reading and giggling our way through this hilarious book, the ten-year-old was begging from across to the room to know why were laughing so hard. Later, my husband enjoyed it as well. We have cats, and Viviane Schwartz has exactly captured what we think they'd say to us if they could talk. The text is simple enough that my daughter, who is only at the sounding out short-vowel one-syllable words stage, could read over half the words, and the non-stop action made her WANT to keep reading it, unlike many of controlled vocabulary readers she's been slogging through. Four thumbs (and two paws) up for this book from our family.

4 years old seems to be the target age in these reviews and yes, it's my 4 year old son who has had to have this read over and over again. He's delighted that the cats think he looks nice, and more than happy to turn the pages so they can find new toys. And, wonder of wonders, the 9 year old keeps offering to read it to him. Very fun book.
