5.0 out of 5 stars For the Baby's sake
A sweet love story, without having sex as it's plot.
Although it is a bit churchy.

Well, at least the first half of the book was okay...

...but I don't know what happened!!!!

So, once upon a time there was Bryan and Andrea. Bryan wanted kids and Andrea didn't. When she ended up pregnant, she left her husband, had the baby, died, then he recieved word he was a father. Okay...

Once upon a time, there was also Laura and Todd, until Todd suddenly died from a heart attack...(after making love, of course...but we won't go there!!!)

So only three months later, Laura is home with her three kids, and enter Bryan, the man who just found out he was a father and had been seperated from his wife for a full year...

I enjoyed reading about Laura's struggle with dating again. It hadn't even been a year yet...

But then in the midst of her struggles and grieving, she suddenly says 'yes' to a marriage proposal...My mind started spinning there - like where in the world did that come from?????????? Then suddenly, Bryan said no to marriage. Then he wanted marriage again but Laura didn't. Then they became engaged...Then suddenly Laura didn't want marriage anymore...

Did I get all that right? Are you totally confused now? Good, because I read the book and am still trying to figure it all out!!! Like I said, the last 100 pages or so were so...unbelievable - and I DO mean unbelievable!!!

It was an easy read and a great story up to the part he proposed, then it pretty much lost me...I'm still trying to figure out how it went from her fighting against dating him to her accepting his marriage proposal...I'm sorry, I really wanted to give this book a hire rating, but this was just too much!!!

As many doubs that plagued them, they should have never gotten married!!! Oh, and by the way, I don't know how Laura could blame her sickness on making him leave. she had no idea she was facing something major until AFTER he left!

3.0 out of 5 stars Just an average read, December 25, 2005

This review is from: There Comes a Season (Love Inspired #27) (Mass Market Paperback)
From the back cover:
When he discovered his infant son, Bryan Beaumont was consumed with self-doubt. What did a high-flying executive know about parenting? But compassionate day-care worker Laura Bates simply wouldn't allow a disillusioned Bryan to lose faith in himself--or his baby.

While Laura knew the good Lord wanted her to help unite father and son, she felt far too vulnerable to open her heart to this dynamic and demanding man. Still, Bryan's tender smile stirred emotioned she thought were gone forever. Would the coming season restore her hope for a joyous future?

And my review:

This book was just okay. I didn't find it all that compelling, and I couldn't really connect with the characters (especially Bryan), which is essential for a good romance.

The plot was fairly interesting, and this author didn't rely on car crashes, death threats, etc, to keep the story moving. Instead, she made this about a struggle of human emotions, and it was fairly well done.

That being said, this was a story that faded from my mind almost as soon as I turned the last page, and was not all that inspiring for being from the "Love Inspired" line. The inspirational part of this book felt like more of a passing glance than an essential part of the plot.

This was okay for a one-time read, but it's not a keeper.
