There Goes the Bride is your personal guide to calling off a wedding— maybe your own! It walks the reader through the reasons, logistics, and emotions associated with breaking an engagement and provides down-to-earth advice, support, and encouragement from women who have been there. Rachel Safier— the widely recognized expert on the topics of cold feet and broken engagements— addresses all your concerns, including figuring out if it's more than just cold feet, dealing with friends and family who don't understand, giving back the ring, and more. Editorial Reviews

Review

"...has become surprisingly successful in the States because, perhaps because it is the first to tackle the topic..." (The Glasgow Herald, 22 December 2003)

Review

"Tying the knot is great--when it's right. For to-be-weds everywhere who may not be sure their One is THE One or for those on the receiving end of a broken engagement, the personal stories in this book are a balm for understanding how and why these things happen and for coping with the aftermath and moving on." - Carley Roney, Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder, TheKnot.com

"Safier's timely and important book shows why it's better to break off an engagement than go through with a marriage that isn't meant to be. The wise words of these 'almost brides' will be helpful to others on the verge of breaking it off, or troubled by the aftermath of a broken engagement." - Pamela Paul, author of The Starter Marriage and the Future of Matrimony.

"It's about time someone tackled this often-secret subject. 'There Goes the Bride' is long overdue."- Lori Leibovich, Editor and Founder, Indiebride.com

"Amid all the happy talk about encouraging marriage, we need to remember that what we really want is better, more stable, grown-up marriages, and that people need to think critically about whether they are right for each other, and indeed whether they are ready for marriage to anybody."- John Crouch, Executive Director, Americans for Divorce Reform

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK, April 22, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: There Goes the Bride: Making Up Your Mind, Calling it Off and Moving On (Paperback)
This book is so comforting for brides who have either called off their wedding or thinking about it. I am a bride who has called off her wedding and this book has helped me through a lot of hard times, just reading that others have gone through the same thing that you are going through just makes you feel a lot better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I had read this months ago!, April 22, 2003

This review is from: There Goes the Bride: Making Up Your Mind, Calling it Off and Moving On (Paperback)
I cancelled my wedding 2 months ago and received this book the day before my planned wedding date. I read many of the other books that were out there (trying to find answers) and none reinforced so many of my feelings. My fiance and I were not right for each other and we were rushing in marriage. I am so happy to be free from that relationship and this book is a gem for women strugling to understand their 'cold feet' and their recurring doubts about marrying their fiances. I highly recommend it and hope all women who have doubts read this and find strength in the accounts of other women who have been there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent advice and reassurance, October 23, 2006

This review is from: There Goes the Bride: Making Up Your Mind, Calling it Off and Moving On (Paperback)
This book is a long-needed resource for would-be and not-sure brides! Ms. Safier reinforces what many women know deep down: That if you have doubts, it's time to walk out before you walk down the aisle. An engagement is easier to get out of than a divorce, and sometimes those uneasy feelings are the nagging of common sense and responsiblity, not "cold feet." She also tells you how to heal afterwards, and how to deal with the well-intentioned but thoughless/spiteful/nosy questions and remarks that you'll inevitably get from acquaintances.

Ladies, read this book before you say "I do" and hold your heads high and know that you ARE doing the mature thing if you decide it's time to say, "I don't."
