GREAT BOOK,
By A Customer
This review is from: There Goes the Bride: Making Up Your Mind, Calling it Off and Moving On (Paperback)
This book is so comforting for brides who have either called off their wedding or thinking about it. I am a bride who has called off her wedding and this book has helped me through a lot of hard times, just reading that others have gone through the same thing that you are going through just makes you feel a lot better.

Wish I had read this months ago!,

I cancelled my wedding 2 months ago and received this book the day before my planned wedding date. I read many of the other books that were out there (trying to find answers) and none reinforced so many of my feelings. My fiance and I were not right for each other and we were rushing in marriage. I am so happy to be free from that relationship and this book is a gem for women strugling to understand their 'cold feet' and their recurring doubts about marrying their fiances. I highly recommend it and hope all women who have doubts read this and find strength in the accounts of other women who have been there.

This book is a long-needed resource for would-be and not-sure brides! Ms. Safier reinforces what many women know deep down: That if you have doubts, it's time to walk out before you walk down the aisle. An engagement is easier to get out of than a divorce, and sometimes those uneasy feelings are the nagging of common sense and responsiblity, not "cold feet." She also tells you how to heal afterwards, and how to deal with the well-intentioned but thoughless/spiteful/nosy questions and remarks that you'll inevitably get from acquaintances.
Ladies, read this book before you say "I do" and hold your heads high and know that you ARE doing the mature thing if you decide it's time to say, "I don't."

My discussions with my close friends were more insightful than this book. I suppose it was nice to hear stories of other women in similar situations, but I felt that the book was repetitive and could have been summarized in two pages.

I can't say enough good things about this book. I found it about 2 weeks after my wedding was called off and a year later, I still get something out of it. If you just called off your wedding, or are thinking about it, this book will let you know that you are not alone in the myriad of emotions. I have recommended this to so many people, even those who went through the end of a serious relationship, not necessarily an engagement. It will sit next to your bed and you will pick it up at 4 in the morning for comfort.

This book was like a beacon of light at a very difficult time in my life. I cannot say enough good about it. Rachel and the other woman who told their stories truly helped to get into the heart of what it is like to let go of a dream. This book is written by women, for women. It gets into your heart and helps ease your soul as you transition into a new life. Thank you to Rachel and all the other Almost Brides out there who are not afraid to keep on loving even after going through such a difficult time.

Cuts to the heart of the matter.,

This review is from: There Goes the Bride: Making Up Your Mind, Calling it Off and Moving On (Paperback)
I bought this book when I was seriously questioning my relationship and considering breaking off my engagement. Thank to the courage of Rachel Safier and the other women who shared their experiences, private pain, and strength, I found the answer in my heart and made my decision. Sharing the experiences of so many women helped me to feel more confident in my decision, and it helped immensely to know that I was not alone in what I was going through. The friendly, supportive, no-nonsense tone makes you feel like you are having coffee with a group of close friends. This book truly empowers women to ask the hard questions and face the truth. Excellent!

There Goes the Bride is a great book for anyone having relationship issues. Whether or not you have cold feet or something more serious, this book is for you. The stories from the Almost Brides are great and really give the feeling that broken engagements and relationship troubles aren't a rare phenomenon.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. It's an easy read that's full of information, humor, and resources.

Not for me, but could be great for someone else.,
By Reader (New York, NY) - See all my reviews

All I read were the stories of women who had broken off their engagements or had their engagements broken off. I was unsure if what I was feeling about my own engagement was cold feet or something more serious. I was a little disappointed to find that there wasn't more discussion of how to figure that out--only a few pages.
For me, the last third of the book--putting marriage and engagement in a sociological context--was unnecessary and unhelpful. I imagine that those who do call off their engagements will find the middle section--how to do everything from send back gifts to recall invites--very helpful.

Brilliant - Helps the Coping Process,

This review is from: There Goes the Bride: Making Up Your Mind, Calling it Off and Moving On (Paperback)
For any would-be-bride, this book is a must. Humurous at times, tearful at others, this book helps remind us that calling off the wedding is not the end of the world. A wonderful combination of advice with antecdotal stories from other would-be brides. After cancelling my own wedding 12 days before the event, I was searching high and low for something to help me through the grieving process. The book was IT! A wonderful find.
