Great song to cover,

Cover song from the La's, one of my favorite CD's of the early 90's. Glad to know someone else listened to it.

Neat song. Cool band. Only available on the single or on the Austrailian import of the self-titled album.

Sixpence version equal or better than La's original version,
By
This review is from: There She Goes (Audio CD)
This Sixpence None The Richer version of The La's song is one of the few instances where a cover version at least equals and I would say in this case slightly improves upon the original.Although the arrangement seems close to The La's, I think having a female vocal adds to the Sixpence version. (And, the earlier reviewer who says The La's version is not the original is mistaken. I think they are referring to a Velvet Underground song, Femme Fatale, which I believe begins with the words, " There she goes..." Anyway, The main guy in The La's is the songwriter and he probably wasn't even born yet when the VU recorded their song. So we have two great songs that contain the words, "there she goes").

The La's version of this song was one of my favorite early 90s songs and this version is almost as good.

It's about time that this song got the recognition it deserves. It's covered very well and the overall sound of the song remade this time makes it stand apart from the old song.

Another Hit For Six Pense None the Richer!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: There She Goes (Audio CD)
I think that this is definately a realy hit for Six Pense None the Richer! The lead singers elegant voice really makes the song, and great, wild musical accompinament pulls it all together to make another "Kiss Me"! I've heard the version preformed by the La's, and it is not as good as this one, get it, it's worth it!!

The best single ever!,
By California Person (California) - See all my reviews

This single is the best one ever! All three songs are great. The L.A.'s, or whatever, were good too, but I think Sixpence gives it a lot of justice. Better even.

What an angelic, soaring voice Ms. Nash has. This song is one that no one can resist singing along with. Fits this band perfectly.

There she goes again,
By A Customer
This review is from: There She Goes (Audio CD)
I heard the La's version of this song on "The Parent Trap" and loved it. Then I heard SNTR's cover, which is much better than the original. I loved it even more. Leigh Nash's vocal is pretty(not strained and shrill like the La's)and exudes the relaxed vibe of someone thinking about her lover on a warm summer day. There's only one problem: Why is a woman singing "There SHE Goes"? Shouldn't it be "There He Goes"?

This in not the Velvet Underground song,
By Mr. Vinyl (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: There She Goes (Audio CD)
It's unbelievable that any audiophile who would be so presumptuous as to correct the readers as to the origin of this song, would do so incorrectly."There She Goes Again," the Velvet Underground song covered by R.E.M. and others, is NOT the same song as the La's "There She Goes". Both have a 60's quality, but they are not the same song. The La's indeed did first record this brilliant song. |
