Book Description

January 23, 2007
I have been through many challenges, obstacles and some really strange situations throughout my life. Along the way I have been fortunate enough to not only live through them, but also have been given the opportunity to share with you what I have learned. I have found a great place to be in my life. I have discovered and been taught ways to overcome my weaknesses, strengthen my love for life and find contentment and inner peace. I decided to write this book after I overcame an event that almost ended my life. I was told I could only keep what I can give away, so it is within these pages that I hope to pass along that gift to you. Life is a strange ongoing process, not an event. It comes with many twists and turns. Ultimately though, you have the ability to make your life whatever you choose it to be. How you process the events of your life are totally up to you. You already possess the ability and power to shape those events and use them to your advantage, or you can let them destroy you, shatter your dreams and remove your love for life. The choice is yours. It is my unpretentious intention that you find this book inspirational and I am able to pass along some thoughts and tools that you can apply to your own life, and achieve the peace and serenity that I have found in mine. The book has been accepted into the Clark County Library District for inclusion in the public library system. There are also several reviews and articles about the book, which you can find on the website, http://www.neednokey.com

LITERARY LAS VEGAS

Summerlin-area resident Marc Gohres runs Gohres Construction, flies airplanes and has spent a lifetime exploring computer technology with multiple software patents to his name.

With his new book "There Is No Key to Happiness, The Door is Always Open," Gohres takes on the worlds of writing and philosophy, as well.

Excerpt from "There Is No Key to Happiness, The Door Is Always Open"

When I do the best I can, I am going to be proud of myself. I am going to radiate that pride to my friends, family and colleges. ...

I am taking control of my life and demanding results. It also means I am striving to achieve my personal best because I have experienced for myself the confidence, self-love and respect that it produces. I then find myself striving to achieve my best because I have discovered what it brings out in me. And it feels fantastic. I no longer strive for excellence because of a reward, I strive for excellence because I am full of pride and have come to understand that you can only keep what you give away.

About the Author

I was born in Orange County, California. I have always had a love for the outdoors and the ocean. I started learning about business early in life on the job sites of my fathers construction company, and always enjoyed the satisfaction and pride I got from building new construction projects. In the grade school I became interested in computers and the new technologies and immediately realized the advantages of using them in business and construction. I actively pursued these technologies and achieved a level of proficiency that allowed me to help develop what was then the precursor to what is now the Internet. I was one of the original members and pioneers of FIDONET, the world's first global network long before the Internet was introduced to the general public. I take great pride in helping pioneer that technology that has now changed the world. I was granted my first software copyright at age 16. In 1991 I decided I wanted a change and moved to Las Vegas, and I am proud to call it my home. I currently live in the Summerlin area with my wife, and my two children. Las Vegas has been very good to me and I want to try and help others improve their quality of life. I enjoy flying all types of aircraft, golf; water sports, snow skiing, traveling, and spending time with my wife and kids. My most important job is being the best father and husband that I can be. Currently I am a licensed instrument rated aircraft pilot and use that ability to volunteer my time as a search and rescue pilot in the Civil Air Patrol, Nellis Air Force Base Senior Squadron. When time allows I do my best to be involved with the community, charities and other organizations that attempt to bring a better quality of life to those less fortunate. I truly have been blessed with so much in my life; I just wanted to give back what I have been given. It was in this spirit that I decided to write this book. May you find peace, happiness and self-love in your life, it is my sincere desire that some of the

4.0 out of 5 stars covers fifteen lessons, May 7, 2007
This review is from: There Is No Key To Happiness, The Door Is Always Open (Paperback)
Reviewed by Narissa Johnson for Reader Views (4/07)

Marc Gohres' book, "There is No Key to Happiness, the Door is Always Open," presents a series of fifteen lessons about how to capture positive energy within your life. In another book, they would be the keys to a happy life. But, as Gohres' title points out, there are no keys; you just have to open the door.

Gohres writes from a place of contentment in his life, he has passed through a painfully difficult period and come out realizing he is responsible for his own happiness and what lessons he has learned, he wants to share with his readers. Interestingly enough, the lessons in his book are not something new - they are not overwhelmingly profound or different from anything else we have heard in some form before.

The book is short. And while it could probably be shorter still, it covers fifteen lessons about: thoughts, words, loving yourself, letting the past go, following your dreams, approaching problems by focusing their solutions, risk taking, mediation, the destructive power of resentment, avoiding presumption, the importance of not judging, that it is all about you, to reach for the stars, the good of life and the importance of setting your goals.

His lessons are not only the lessons of building a life for happiness, but also the lessons of what is universally considered a "good life." And when you need a reminder of some of the lessons on being a good person, "There is No Key to Happiness, the Door is Always Open" does the trick!
