Kunjufu has done it again. He has taken his research, experience, and observations to create easy to implement solutions for today's issues. I appreciated the fact that he presents equal responsibility of the education of African American students to families, teachers, and administrators. He calls the "village" to step up to the plate and respond appropriately to the needs of African American students. He challenges us to stop blaming students for the lack of skilled adults who work with these students. There is no excuse for the achievement gap, since there is nothing wrong with Black students. There is everything wrong with a system that continues to allow a group of students to fail. This book is full of answers. If people want the answers there are so many resources to find them.

I am a huge fan and follower of Kunjufu. Once again, he provides a clear and cogent read explaining the problem and how to address successfully educating Black children. This book is excellent. Every educator who encounters African-American children should definitely read this book!

I got it for an essay I did on the achievement gap...I was not impressed with how much of a textbook this reads like...I ended up just using some of the sources in his reference section
