Sweeden Rocks?, June 7, 2000
This review is from: Is There Something on Your Mind (Audio CD)
Sweeden used to be home only to sickeningly sweet slick pop bands like ABBA. Lately there has been some great music coming out of Viking territory. First the Merrymakers put out a great Power Pop record, and now the Drowners have released a great guitar rock CD. The Drowners sound like what would happen if you put the Foo Fighters, old Joe Jackson and Weezer music in a blender. It has great melodic guitar rock songs and strong playing. Every song on the CD is great.

The very best power pop, March 30, 2008
This review is from: Is There Something on Your Mind (Audio CD)
It's one of my favourite CDs in my collection. Great tunes, very catchy, with good arrangements and voices. Most song are lightly upbeat, but has some gorgeous slower songs too ("Postello", "Death Has Never Been a Friend of Mine", "Winter Left You Alone"). Drowners (from cold Sweden) never hat got to repeat this high quality level in other releases. "Is There Something on your Mind" is a perfect great top 5 hit that never happened. "Think of Me" is a very pleasant song from the USA's movie "Boys and Girls" (2000). Who likes bands like Fountains of Wayne, Sloan, Semisonic, Jet or Tories cannot miss this one. No filler here, just gems.

The Drowners are on MY mind, June 17, 2003
This review is from: Is There Something on Your Mind (Audio CD)
When I heard The Drowners' title track online, I knew I had to have their CD. I figured if the other songs were half as good as ". . .Something on Your Mind", I'd have no regrets. I was wrong. All of their songs are as good-if not BETTER- than the title track. The Drowners "Is There Something on Your Mind" is the best impulsive purchase I have ever made! Their music is the perfect blend of rock guitars, good harmonies, and catchy lyrics. Between upbeat pop tunes (Bittersweet, One Star), fast rock songs (Bellingham), and beautifully haunting ballads (Postello), The Drowners grab your attention and keep it-- this coming from someone with ADD. I bought this CD four years ago and I'm still in love with it.
