Innovative interpretation of the classic nursery song. In this sing-and-count book the dial turns to make the children tumble out of bed, one by one.

As a music teacher...I sing this book to my Kindergarten ,and 1st grade classes. It would be excellent for preschoolers also. They absolutely love it and join in singing everytime. They actually shout "yay" when I get the book out. This is my Third copy of "There were Ten in a bed" because I literally wore out the other two!

I owned this book as a small child, LOVED it, Kept it, and gave it to my 2 year old. She LOVES it! Now I have to buy a second one for her! We have read it so many times it is falling apart. No child should be without this book!

My mom is a children's librarian (she does all the story times at her library). My daughter will be 3 years-old next month and loves an episode of Barney where they act out this song (with just four in the bed). So I asked my mom if there was a book version. She told me about this one and said it's the best one she's ever seen. Ignore the person who said the wheel isn't attached in the back; it is. That reviewer had a broken book and it obviously never occurred to them that might be the case. The wheel is secure -- no way to even access it to get it out. My only complaint is that the little finger grips are a tad small. For some children, this might pose a challenge. My daughter struggled with it for a minute or two but quickly figured it out and can turn it perfectly the same day she got the book. This book held my daughter's attention for over an hour straight and then all day she has returned to it again and again. She even ASKED to take an EARLY nap (she usually fights us on the nap) and she took the book to bed with her. That's a winner in my book any day! It's really a cute book and a great way to sneak in some math lessons. One-to-one counting (being able to count items, such as how many children are left in the bed) is a hard concept for little ones. My mom (the librarian) was first a kindergarten teacher for over 25 years and she said her 5 year-olds struggled with this concept. It's never too early to start teaching them and this book makes math fun. I highly recommend it!
