I will share this with my others who are looking to get into VO work.

I would strongly suggest going very slow and to read these sections several times as you absorb all the information that this book has to offer.

I'd recommend this book to anyone new to the industry, as well as to voice over talent that have had their own business for years.

Can't tell you how happy I am that Elaine updated this book! The Third Edition of "There's Money Where Your Mouth Is" is NEW and IMPROVED!

If you are looking for a well organized, thoughtful, easy to understand book on the voiceover business, filled with practical examples of scripts of every variety - from commercials to audiobooks - from corporate communication to video games, this is the book to have on your shelf.

It takes you through the basics of the business - from technical to techniques - for the beginner and the seasoned pro. Then be prepared for a workout! It is packed with scripts and more scripts - with analysis that even a professional can appreciate. And finally, no matter how much know about the business or how much you practice - if you don't know how to hook up with the people who want to buy what you have to sell, then you won't be making a living in this business. This part of the book is actually the hardest for most people - and the part that is often left out of voiceover classes.

If you are considering a Voice Over career or are looking for ways to hone an existing one, Elaine Clark's book is a standard of this industry. I have read the Second Edition and this updated version is no different in it being extremely dense with content. You will need multiple sittings to just to begin to absorb all of the information that she provides. The book has some very important insights on how to manage the business end of the Craft in terms of creating reels, joining unions, interacting with agents and casting directors, and finding your niche. The provided performance methods and practice scripts are extremely helpful. I would strongly suggest going very slow and to read these sections several times as you absorb all the information that this book has to offer. I was most intrigued by Elaine's use of moving the entire body during performances to invoke believability.

Following one's passion can be really scary and you will find this book to be inviting and encouraging. I am very grateful to have this updated Edition as a resource.

This is the third iteration of the book that has dominated voice over training titles year after year. Why? Because this book and it's author Elaine Clark are the real deal. She is a WORKING voice actress providing accurate, timely facts about our business: how it works now and how to become a part of it - or maximize your present role in it. What's more, she is a WORKING trainer of voice artists world-wide. Add to that perfect skill-set is her ability to write entertainingly and concisely; an ability not always present in far too many of the other books on voice work I've had to struggle through. Bravo Elaine, this edition I consider the New Testament of your undisputed Bible of our industry.

When he was 16, my son, Jonathan Murphy (jonincharacter) started taking classes at Elaine Clark's VoiceOne Studio in San Francisco. Elaine attracts the best in the business and, thanks to Elaine, he's taken classes from people in the industry who really know what they're talking about...Casting directors, talent agents, voiceover actors, and marketing specialists. His best teacher, and mentor, is Elaine Clark, and his copy of the second edition of this book is so dogeared and marked up because Elaine's advise and tips are so practical and spot on! She KNOWS the ins and outs of having a successful career in the voiceover industry. I've read her book in support of my son and together we've put her techniques and business recommendations to the test in his own career...and they work! I just placed an order for her third edition. If you are serious about having a career in voiceovers, you must get this book.

This book is so full of information for those who want to learn about how to make a living in voice acting -- and those who want to polish their existing talent. Elaine Clark writes with the authority of her long experience in the field, but with an approachable style that makes the technical information easy to absorb and put into practice. She covers a wide variety of genres from commercial to character to narration and more, and details solid techniques for delivering believable, market-worthy voice-over work. The book also gives practical information and tips on demos, agents, marketing, and much more. I'm so glad I have this book to re-read and to practice by as I work to develop my skills in voice acting.

This is an excellent book. One to which the beginner or the professional will want to refer over and over again. It is clearly written and loaded with great information. In such a competitive field, voice actors really need the best information they can get from people who know their stuff and Elaine Clark certainly does.

I thought this book was great. However there are somethings where you go.... ahh it's not that easy. Why? because everyone can do it so easily. It is a business, and this gives you an insight to that and what is needed for that business to successful.

it is a good read, and it has somethings which you can use even when presenting to an audience. I got this book for two reasons, I do podcasts, and I also do public speaking. I got this book more for the latter, then the former. Elaine gives you good insight on how to play with your voice. How to fix dry mouth and more. A good book if you're looking to take part in any voice over work or presentation skills
