Baking a perfect romance,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: There's Only Been You (Kindle Edition)
This book has it all, starting with a small town setting, an alpha hero, a softer but strong heroine (who owns a bakery; one of my favorite places), and the heroine's son who pulled at my heartstrings. Mix in the sizzle between Mike and Sara, the slimy but outwardly charming villain, and Sara's protective brothers, and you have the recipe for baking a perfect romance.

Charming characters,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: There's Only Been You (Kindle Edition)
This first book in the series about the Jamison Family is a sweet second-chance-at-love story with appealing leads. The suspense element spices up the story and adds to the conflict, but the real prize in this story is the family dynamic. The characters that make up the Jamison family are charmers and the little boy is a delight. Not everyone can write children that act like real kids, but this author does that very well.

It's a Keeper,
By

This review is from: There's Only Been You (Paperback)
This book is a keeper. It warms the reader's heart with its charm. Sara Jamison is a real life heroine, a single mom, surrounded by family men and busy making her bakery a success. All this while raising her son Ethan who is such a typical boy, he pulls at any mother's heartstrings.
Then Mike, Ethan's father, re-enters Sara's life and she's finds herself with much going on in her more her life than making dinners, keeping her brothers and uncle in line, and keeping the delicious baked goods flowing at her bakery. Worse, she realizes she is still attracted to him, even when he was the one who just disappeared from her life. That situation really stirs up the excitement in everyone's life. Donna Marie Rogers is a writer who makes the real lives of real characters so interesting the reader doesn't want to watch reality TV. What we'd really like is for our real world to have the happy ending along with the humor and the highlights that make this book such a delightful read. Definitely one for the keeper shelf. I can't wait for her to write about one of her brothers.

Sweet read,

This review is from: There's Only Been You (Paperback)
I did enjoy this book, but I fell so head over heals for her other book that I loved that one more. I do wonder how I would have felt about all if I had read this one first. Garrett, Sara's brother was so alpha and annoying at times. I fell hard for her brother Nicky here, and I really came to like Sara (of course since she is the main character). But in the other book I had only eyes for Garrett, because he was so alpha hehe. And here I got to know Mike, what a sweet guy. This book is about Sara and Mike. They were in love as teenagers but then something happened and he left town and she found out she was pregnant. They both blame the other and have their own versions of what happened, and here the reader learns what really did happen. Sara has devoted her time to her son Ethan, and her brothers and uncle. They all live in the same house, and she spends her time there and at her bakery. Not much time for having a social life. But then Mike's dad dies and he comes back into town, and back into her life. But can they overcome those lies in the past? Sara is sweet main character, you can't dislike her. Mike on the other hand does have some anger issues, but he is all alpha and I do like him. And I sure like him and Garrett tearing at each other, that is two alphas that want to be number one. They both have reason to disliking each other. Sara and Mike have some bumps in the road before them, but I want them to be together and for Ethan to get a real dad. A nice love story. There is also the other side of the story, a rotten cop who is a drug dealer and Mike is sent to investigate this in his old town, without anyone knowing. It's a bad guy, a real creep, and there will be some action and bloodshed before the story can get a happy ending. I like that this is mixed up with the romance, it wakens you up and worries you a bit. A sweet little read, and I do know that I would like to read more.

Wonderful Heart Warming Story,
This review is from: There's Only Been You (Paperback)
This is a wonderful story of love lost and found. With a cast of likeable characters, Ms. Rogers has writen a heart warming contemporary romance with all the essential ingredients for a satisfying read. Sara is a down-to-earth woman you can't help but root for. Watching the hero Mike discover his family and bond with his seven-year-old son Ethan was a joy. Anyone who has kids will love this story. Sara's brothers provide additional fun, and I can't wait to read stories about them. If you want a read that leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling then pick up this book. You won't be disappointed.

"Donna Marie Rogers has another hit. You can't miss THERE'S ONLY BEEN YOU! This story has the stuff to make a Recommended Read. The characters, the plot, and the romance, are something you don't want to miss. I enjoyed reading this from page one right to the end. The characters in this story are wonderful. Sara, the single mother, is raising a perfect boy, Ethan, and running her own bakery. You see, she met the love of her life, Mike, several years go, but for some reason, he accused her of cheating. He took off and unknowingly left her pregnant. Sara is doing just fine; she has the love and support of her brothers and her uncle. She sure as hell doesn't need, or want, Mike in her life again. But, we don't always get what we want. Mike is back in town and can't help but see Sara. Okay, here's where the excitement and sparks fly. Sara is angry that he left her without a word and let's him know it, every chance she gets. It gets humorous, at some parts, when these two start to bantering back and forth. And then there's a little action between Sara's brother, Garrett and Mike. These two have lots of nasty things to say to each other. I enjoyed watching Mike slowly work his way back into Sara's life and discover the things he left behind when he fled town, including his son, Ethan. This boy adds something extra special to this story. Then we have the element of danger thrown in, and I found myself mental biting my nails, waiting for the outcome. I really enjoyed seeing Sara's brothers and uncle interact into the story: they were excellent second characters. If you're looking for an unforgettable romance, pick up THERE'S ONLY BEEN YOU. I'll be waiting impatiently for the next book from Ms. Rogers."

selfish,
By Blue Lily "bluelily" (Los Angeles, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: There's Only Been You (Kindle Edition)
the heroine is a selfish person. she is the perfect example of why people should not help other people. her brother put his life on hold for her and her son and the minute the hero walked back in, she does not need her brother anymore. she tells him to get his own life. where was that tone when the hero was not in the picture? she is one of those people who use other people and when she is done, she kicks them out without any remorse.
