4.0 out of 5 stars Great -- but missing one great song
Mary had great songs alright, and this CD is a delightful collection. However, it is missing one of the best songs from the movie -- the song that plays over the end credits. It is a really wonderful song called (I think): The Way. It is by Billy Goodrum and is on a CD of his music that is available from the Love Street Bookstore...

I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good mix of music, November 30, 2000
This review is from: There's Something About Mary (Audio CD)
If you love this movie, you will love this soundtrack. It's every bit as wacky, and fun, but also has touching moments. Like the lovely 'Mary's Prayer' sung by Danny Wilson, and 'Margo's Waltz' sung by Lloyd Cole. Plus, with the upbeat, fun 'Build me up Buttercup' and a mix of rock/pop/alternative. make this an album for all to enjoy. If you like the 'Dumb and Dumber' soundtrack, you will be sure to like this one too.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Pop CD ever!, June 3, 2001

This CD has the finest collection of pop tunes I've yet to find! It's got the classics: Build me Up Buttercup, Is She Really Going Out With Him and Mary's Prayer along with other greats like Everyday Should be A Holiday, Speed Queen etc. Every song is an instant classic and the 'intermission' tracks from Johnathan Richman 'True Love is not nice' etc are just amazing. Possibly the most fun and entertaining CD out there, it makes you glad to be alive! Buy it now!

Awesome soundtrack. Looking for the song at the end as the credits roll. It's called "The Way", but not sure who performs it. Gotta get this song!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite movies and soundtracks, July 21, 2000

I got this soundtrack without really knowing much about the music. I'd seen the movie a couple of times and loved it, especially the part where ... nevermind. Anyway, I bought this and I listened to it five times all the way through. By the time I saw the movie again I could locate where each and every song played. That's kind of sad, but the music on it is really good and really goes great with the movie. If you liked the movie, then get the soundtrack because I guarantee you'll love it. One of my favorites!

I just loved the Shirley Bassey with the Propellerheads track! So good to hear and see the Welsh tigress back on top again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best ....., September 27, 2000

This is one of the very few excellent music I ever heard. It was before watching the movie, that I went for its music. Although I did not have any specific idea about the kind of music it may contain, but to my satisfaction, the album turned out to be SIMPLY THE BEST....

4.0 out of 5 stars Jonathan Richman, A Great Rocker from Way Back, February 11, 1999
This review is from: There's Something About Mary (Audio CD)
Even though only 3 songs on the soundtrack belong to this Modern Lover, he breathes life into this fairly typical conglomeration of old stand-bys and soon-to-be new stand-bys. He has been doing his rock and roll thing since the late 60s, and his song "New England" (off the Best of Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers CD, Rhino Records) is one heart felt, sweet, happy tune about his roots in Boston. He is a perfect fit with the Farrellys and their very strange and wonderful humor. I encourage all to find out more about this genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars A soundtrack as sweet as Mary's personality!!, November 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: There's Something About Mary (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is a great companion to the movie. Just like the knock-your-socks-off first impression Mary gives everyone in the film, the music is no less appealing. It's as if Mary herself walks into the room each time I listen to this CD soundtrack! The music is a vivid and cozy reminder of how much I loved this film. Ivy's "This is the Day" personifies Mary and fits her to a "T:" Light, airy and beautiful. "Build Me Up Buttercup" is simply a wonderful touch. The way it was used to roll the ending credits was genius. Buy It!!!
