5.0 out of 5 stars Therese Neumann ,Mystic and Stigmatist /Adalbert Vogl, January 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Therese Neumann: Mystic and Stigmatist (1898-1962) (Paperback)
I feel so inspired everytime I read a page or chapter. I am amazed at the abundance of mystical experiences that Therese had throughout her lifetime. From her many visions recorded by the author I now have absolute belief in the events of the New Testament and many other saints then and now. I feel really good that the author spent many years with Therese, her family and many associates giving this book another aspect of authenticiy. This book is a must read for people of all faiths.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review form the Publisher, March 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Therese Neumann: Mystic and Stigmatist (1898-1962) (Paperback)
Therese Neumann was perhaps the most visited stigmatist in the history of the church. Mr. Vogal, a friend of the Neumann family, has set down only things he knows from his own experience of things told him by Therese herself by Father Naber, who was her spiritual director or by others who also knew Therese personally He describes Therese's Passion ecstasies, her stigmata, her miraculous receptions of Holy Communion, her abstinence from 1926-1962 from all food and drink except the Eucharistic Host, her living without sleep, her visions and the language phenomenon, her mystical recognition of priests and relics, her recognition of the Holy Eucharist and priestly blessings; her cureS and prophecies, and her bilocation and other mystical gifts. The author describes Therese's activities during World War II, the official investigation by the Church, conversions through her intercession, the rest of the Neumann family, criticisms by her opponents, the throngs of visitors who came to see her statements on her by priests, bishops and cardinals, the paternal interests of Pope Pius XI and Pope Pius XII, and the progress of her Cause for Beatification. Also included here are numerous photographs, including photos of Therese in the Passion ecstasy Great! 210pp. 24 Illustrations. P.B. Imprimatur.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Saint in the making!, September 19, 2006
This review is from: Therese Neumann: Mystic and Stigmatist (1898-1962) (Paperback)
Therese Neuman needs to be rediscovered by this younger generation of readers. I first learned of her while reading that spiritual classic book "Autobiogrpahy a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda back in the 1950's. When I read this book it completed the picture for me and filled in the missing years and details of her life.

The author moved to the San Jose area and attended church at Saint Lawerence in Santa Clara. I talked to his perish priest back in the 1990's and at the time he was still alive - although I am no longer sure since he was born in 1910.

This book is uplifting and inspiratonal. A must read for all seekers of inner peace and truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling Glimpse Into the Life of a Modern Mystic!, April 15, 2011

This review is from: Therese Neumann: Mystic and Stigmatist (1898-1962) (Paperback)
I have often sought information about one of the 20th century's most compelling mystics, Therese Neumann. This book did not disappoint me with its in-depth view of her life and gifts. The author clearly had a close relationship with her and is privy to information that I doubt could be found in other such books about her. It describes her life of struggle and suffering for love of the Lord amidst the backdrop of Nazi Germany. The author fluently relates the hundreds of Passion sufferings she endured all the while graciously taking thousands of visitors and curiosity seekers into her home. The pictures, both color and black & white, show glimpses of Therese's life and moments of suffering which are shocking to say the least. Although Therese's external life is quite fascinating, given the author's close relationship with her I do wish this book would have delved more deeply into Therese's own spirituality. In my opinion, one of the highlights of reading about any of the saints (or a future saint in this case) is understanding their views of faith and love. I want to know what makes Therese who she is and how she has coped for decades with the sufferings she has faced. Regardless, this is truly a remarkable book with very interesting insights into mystical phenomena which Therese Neumann certainly had plenty of. Highly recommend!

This book contains a lot of serious spiritual information. I read the book in stages and found that the best way to appreciate and process everything that was written. It's not an "easy, fun" read and isn't meant to be. Still, if you are looking for information on this famous mystic, this is a good book to have.

I read this book 50 years ago and was very impressed with all the pictures and story of Therese Neumann. I was without this book for about 40 years and every time I looked for it over the years I had no luck. I finally was able to get a "used" copy for peanuts and the book was brand-spanking NEW!!! I'm not losing this one. Buy it if you can find it!!!
