Previous use of my current sleeping bag under similar conditions (low 40s) without a mat left me chilled; with this mat I was warm and comfy. I'm 6'1" and had no issues using the short mat.

Bought two regular sized ones for my wife and me for our camping trips. The length of the small size is too small for anyone except kids.
It packs light, although bulky. But you will never feel any added weight, just tie it to the outside of your backpack and you can forget about it. It insulates well and provides reasonable comfort. Best thing is I don't have to worry about where I put this down unlike the inflated ones in which, you have to be extra careful not to punch any holes in it. So considering the price and the ruggedness and zero maintenance and care, I am very happy with the purchase.

A high quality must have,

Research indicated these were high quality vs. the competition. After the first use, I prefer these to an air mattress because they do a better job of retaining your body heat. They cushion a little bit and roll up into a light, reasonably sized roll. Camping in 36 degree weather you could definitely tell when your sleeping bag or arm would fall off the mat.
