Previous use of my current sleeping bag under similar conditions (low 40s) without a mat left me chilled; with this mat I was warm and comfy. I'm 6'1" and had no issues using the short mat.

Bought two regular sized ones for my wife and me for our camping trips. The length of the small size is too small for anyone except kids.
It packs light, although bulky. But you will never feel any added weight, just tie it to the outside of your backpack and you can forget about it. It insulates well and provides reasonable comfort. Best thing is I don't have to worry about where I put this down unlike the inflated ones in which, you have to be extra careful not to punch any holes in it. So considering the price and the ruggedness and zero maintenance and care, I am very happy with the purchase.

A high quality must have,

Research indicated these were high quality vs. the competition. After the first use, I prefer these to an air mattress because they do a better job of retaining your body heat. They cushion a little bit and roll up into a light, reasonably sized roll. Camping in 36 degree weather you could definitely tell when your sleeping bag or arm would fall off the mat.

This thing is huge,

It's wonderful rolled out on the ground, and quite comfortable. But is it worth the enormous size rolled up? I'm not sure. A little therm-a-rest self inflating mat is pretty comfortable, and about 1/5th the packed size. This thing is light and comfortable, but packing it is a pain.

I have used the mat just once so far but can tell that is a very good item. It is warm, light, durable and comfy. My friend bought a mat for $10 and that's what it worth. I'm 5'10" and 155 lb, I bought a regular size and it fits me perfectly. If you want to buy a bigger size be aware that it will be bulky.

We bought these for camping. They were so thin, it felt just like sleeping on the ground. They did insulate a little so it was warmer thant he ground...but we returned these right away because they weren't worth it!

good for warmth, not for comfort,

Used this pad on a backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevadas, where we slept on a flat rock every night. I stayed warm, but the pad did not offer much in the way of comfort.

Good not great.
Big... light... but not as comfy as some others I've been on. Still... these do the job. I new exactly what I was buying when I got em. The real comfy ones are a bit more expensive. This is a good all purpose.

Therma rest mat,
This review is from: Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest (Sports)
I researched this item before I purchased it thinking it was a good price and it had fairly good reviews. My conclusion is that for backpacking it probably is a good choice as it is lightweight. For tent camping such as we did, forget it ! It felt like I was sleeping directly on the ground. There is no cushion whatsoever to this mat.

I own this and the Alps comfort series air pad. I like this one better! It's just as comfortable, less slippery and you never have to worry about punctures! Don't waste your money on more expensive pads. This is a great product!
