Needing traveling chair that I could pack away easily in my Navy Seabag or backpack, I purchased the Thermarest Trekker Lounge. It is sturdy, lightweight and easy to set up and break down. It can be used as a lounge or a chair, in the great outdoors.

I plan to use it during the Summer Concerts in my neighborhood, as well as at the beach. It sets up in less than 6 minutes (including the inflation of the pad). It breaks down in about 10 minutes (including folding the sleeping pad). It contains aluminum rods that keep it stable but they do affect the portability in general uses - I strapped mine to the side of my tactical backpack without any problems or weight issues.

This is not the most economical system but it is comfortable and versatile. If you're willing to spend the money, I encourage you to try this system out. However, for a family of 4 it will set you back $600 = the cost of a decent Love Seat.

Highly recommend.

I purchased this in the 25 inch width to fit my pad. It is a great chair. The only problem I had with this is how difficult it is to insert and remove the fiberglass support poles that go in the back of the chair to give it shape.

I was able to get them in and out, but it was a huge struggle. I thought that the webbing might stretch and get easier, but it did not. Finally, carefully took my Gerber (Gerber 01471 Suspension Butterfly Opening Multi-Plier, with Sheath) out and used the small knife to cut two stitches out of each side where the supports went in and out. The area is double stitched and I was able to melt the ends of the thread with a match. After doing that, this worked great. Really, the only reason I did not give this five stars is that I had to modify it after the fact to make it work.

The nice thing about this, versus other Therm-a-rest chairs is that you do not have to take your pad out each night to sleep in it. You just release the two buckles on the side and it lays flat for bed.

It is also really nice because when you break it down it rolls up nicely and has two compression straps already sewn into the chair to hold it all together. I'm able to use these straps to also attach the pad to my backpack when we are hiking.

This chair is great and you will love it when you make camp. You don't think about it, but when you sit cross-legged around a fire with no back support, you are actually wearing your back out. This makes you more tired the next day. But, if you have this chair, your body is actually resting while you are sitting around the fire.

-Cheers!

I have slept on the floor on a thermarest mondo king matress every night for the past two years due to a back injury. I also tend to sit and lay down on it during the day rather then sitting on the couch becuse after a half hour or so it become painfuly uncomfortable. I purchased the lounge to use it to support my back when sitting on my matress. It works great for my intended purpose. It is simple to switch from sitting to lying down when it gets uncomfortable. I just unbuckle the side clips and I am pain free.

This thing is sturdy, I weigh 275lbs and the lounger handles it with perfectly. Even when matress is mostly deflated this thing can support my leaning back with out bending the side support rods (which are completely unoticable when laying on them)

Another feature I like is the ability to roll up my matress and buckle it using the lounger. It is self contained and I dont have to stuff it into a sack. It makes it slightly more convenient to take with me, and although still wierd, I can sit on it when visiting friends and family and even lay down if I am in pain.

I purchased this ThermaRest/Trekker Lounge Chair for my daughters Christmas gift. I am very rarely disappointed with my Amazon purchases, but this time I was. The item should have been called a Thermarest Trekker/Camp Lounge Chair KIT as it is @ REI. I did not realize that I was only buying a sleeve that covers a ground pad that is not included. Neither the picture nor the name indicate that. Granted, I should have read deeper into the description. But, Amazon could have been more straightforward. Lesson learned. Now, we still have to get the pad - but I am not sure where that will be purchased.

This is a little pricey, but it's really a pretty cool camp chair. I've only used it a few times. I hope it holds up.

I have owned this lounge for two years and have used it on several backpacking trips. I don't mind the extra weight for the comfort is worth it. When it was new the ridgid poles were hard to remove but once you do it several times it loosens up and now it is easy to insert and remove. I broke one of the fiberglass poles (stepped on it) and thermarest replaced it free of charge. I usually remove the stays and roll it up the way the company intended, but if it's raining and I'm in a hurray I just fold it in thirds and roll it up, my bedroll backpack straps hold it secure either way. Great product, great company. Get one, your back will thank you for a comfy chair to sit in after a long hike.
