I bought this blanket as a light weight alternative to a sleeping bag for backpacking. I was turned on by the fact it has 700 fill down and it uses your sleeping pad as a base so you don't waste any down by laying on it. My alpine blanket is paired with the Neo Trekker All Season pad. I've used this blanket on several trips since my purchase.

The goods: Packs down very small, about the size of half a loaf of bread. It lofts very quickly after just a couple shakes. It comes with snaps so you can make a "fast and light" sleep system. This attaches the blanket to the mattress so it doesn't move around or slip off in your sleep. It works great for warm sleepers who need a quick escape for their arms/feet when they get to hot.

The bads: The biggest problem this blanket is faced with is that the stitching run horizontally. The down tends to slide down the sides in the middle of the night. This is mostly noticed if you are a side or stomach sleeper. I kept waking up in the middle of the night because my hips and butt would be cold. To my surprise, they were only covered by 2 thin pieces of nylon...all the down had drifted toward the sides. Also, I got a regular size first then returned it for a large. The different sizes had swapped the male and female snaps so it was not compatible with how I placed the "fast and light" smaps on my pad. I had to buy new snaps. Why, therm-a-rest, why do something so stupid???

I figure the down problem could be fixed with either more down (it seems to be under stuffed) or a quilt like stitching pattern that make little boxes instead of these long tubes you see in the picture. I would recommend this only if you know you will be warm weather camping and the temperature won't get below 45ish degrees.

I bought this blanket on amazon thinking it would be the perfect winter companion to my neoair all season pad.
Just like the other reviewer, i have the exact same problem. All the down slides down the sides and there is nothing on top. I also had cold hips or if i moved to sleeping on my stomach, then my rear end would get cold. All that was there to keep me warm was two hyper thin layers of nylon and NO DOWN!! If you hold the blanket up so light shines on it you can see light come through the most important part, the torso area! I also have The thermarest Tech blanket good for 60f... the tech blanket keeps me much warmer and is a fraction of the cost. What's the problem Cascade Designs? why wont you do an exchange and why is your company peddling Useless highly expensive blankets. The overall quality of materials is very good, but put together and assembled by who knows, and no quality control. I have contacted Cascade designs several times about this but i just get the run around. I am looking for a good alternative to All Cascade designs products; after being a 25 year customer I am no longer buying their products unless they contact me for an exchange. I have already tried to exchange to no avail.

The lowest I have had this out is at around 45 degrees. Kept me cozy (with an underquilt under me). I would never consider a 35 degree bag a winter bag, but it is perfect for the summer. I loved how it fluffed around me in my hammock. I would hate to goof around with a sleeping bag inside of my hammock. I would probably flip right out. I am 5'2'' and the regular is perfect for me. It does pack down pretty small and is one of the lightest bag/blankets in its category. I am a smallish lady and it is a priority of mine to keep my backpack as light as possible.

This is a great blanket, very well made and very warm. Works as well or better than a bag if you use the included sticky back loops to secure the blanket to your sleeping pad. I toss at night and am a side sleeper and this blanket gives me great comfort. It does not constrict you or bunch up when moving around. I love this alternative to a mummy bag, well done Therm a rest.
