Great for travel,

This review is from: Therm-a-Rest Camp Seat (Sports)
I bought this for an international trip. It was GREAT for the 9 hour flight. I put it on my seat and was really comfortable for the flight. The size was just right for the airline seat too. Then we spent much of our trip on a tour bus, which had hard, uncomfortable seats. So, I used it again on the bus. It was great either as a sitting cushion or for my back. It didn't work for lumbar support, but just to pad my back in the bus seat. Of course the fact that I could roll it up during travel was perfect.

My family recently took a long international flight. We got several seat cushions to try to make it easier to sit in place for 10 hours. The Skwoosh was useless. The inflatable cushion sprung a leak and deflated. This worked very well and survived the whole trip without problems. It fit the airplane seat well. It inflated and deflated easily several times. It was comfortable to sit on. Next trip, I plan to forget the others and get more of these.

I had to travel to India for work. 20 hours in coach.....one way! With the compressed airline seats, I wasn't going to make it. Bought this based on the recommendations and the fact I've had the camping version for years. Worked great and made a huge difference as I could adjust the air levels (over inflate by blowing in if I wanted) and keep some circulation going. Fits into the micro airline seats nicely. Won't leave home without it......at least not to India!

I used this in combination with the Dream Essentials First Class Sleeper Travel pillow on a 20 hour coach flight to Asia. It was the perfect size to fit on the coach seat. It was much more comfortable than the regular seat, and I found myself relaxed and comfortable at the end of the flight. I herniated two discs last year and was worried I would be in pain for my entire trip, but with this product I experienced no back pain at all.
The pad is self-inflating and when deflated, rolls up into a much smaller size. When rolled it easily fit into my backpack. I haven't been camping with it yet, but I will take it with me when I do. I recommend this for anyone who is going to go on a long flight and wants to be comfortable and rested at the end of the flight.

If your traveling my advice is...don't leave home without it!
This compact, self-inflating wonder will make your economy class airline seat into something that you may actually survive. In 15+ hour jumps to Asia (New York-Bangkok direct and more recently Atlanta-Seoul) this was the only thing between me and rock hard, flat airline seats. It's amazing what a few ounces of foam and a little air will do! I had previously used the Therm-a-Rest Trail Seat Self-inflating Mattress (Green). Well don't even think about saving ten bucks...the "deluxe" model is far superior...and fits larger posteriors! But this baby isn't just for airplane use. You'll want to take it everywhere for nasty wooden benches and metal seats in airports, bus stations, buses, Chinese prisons, restaurants and many other places that seem to have no respect for the Geneva Convention. It's small, light and a heck of an inexpensive upgrade towards First Class, wherever you are.

I have serious back problems that prevent me from sitting for long periods but this seat cushion changes all that. I can sit for hours in comfort. I bought a few of them to keep at home and to take with me everywhere I go. You can adjust the firmness to your liking.

Great accessory for long-haul flights,

The therm-a-rest seat provided excellent support and cushioning for my entire flight from New York to Auckland, New Zealand and back. I wondered how I had survived other long-haul flights without it. You feel like you are resting on a pocket of air, and you can adjust to your comfort level. It works fabulously well (I used it in the rental car as well). I would only say that it might not be as comfortable for people with short legs, since it does add a tiny bit of height to your sitting level. If your legs barely touch the floor in an airline seat, this cushion will only exacerbate that problem. But otherwise, this is an extremely worthwhile investment, especially when used with the 1st Class Sleeper. Used together, it's almost like business class, without the 180 degree pitch (and good service).

I had purchased Therm-a-Rest Camp Seat Self-inflating cushion couple months ago and I had been very pleased. Being an overweight traveler, I always have a problem sitting those long hours during the flight or drive. Now after taking 4 international flights with my new friend, I can honestly tell you that this cushion works mirricales for my bottom.
Also it is very comfy to sit on the floor etc.

I bought the Therm-a-Rest Camp Seat for a recent flight to Europe because I tend to get back pain and my tailbone sometimes hurts excruciatingly during these long periods of sitting in these uncomfortable airline seats. Here's what I think AFTER the flight:
The Good: 1. Very easy to use. All it takes is a turn of the valve to let air inflate the cushion, and another turn and simultaneously rolling it up to deflate it again. 2. Easy to take along. I found I could simply fold the deflated cushion in half and stuff it in a large carry-on tote. It really didn't take up much space at all. All in all I'd compare it to the space a regular magazine would take up in a tote... 3. Materials seems to be good quality, the cushion held up well. The Not-So-Good: At first the experience was very comfortable. I also stuffed one of those airline cushions (Lufthansa still has those) in my back and felt like I could sit ok. However, after a few hours my tailbone started hurting just as much as it had on previous flights. I tried everything - from inflating it more to deflating it more, to switiching positions, to distributing my weight differently, all to no avail. In the end I removed the cushion altogether because I could not achieve a comfortable position. I am thinking that it might have been different had the cushion had a small cutout in the back where the tailbone is. Because otherwise it is quite comfortable and does improve the sitting. But for my particular condition it only worked for so long and then I found myself dealing with tailbone pain again, just as always. So for those of you who are simply looking for a more comfortable, padded something between your tush and the airline seat, by all means go for it. But people who suffer from the same pain as I do might want to look elsewhere. And please comment if you found a better solution - I'd love to hear about it.

ThermaRest cushion,

My friend and I purchased these seats for an African safari since we'd heard that the seats weren't always comfortable and the roads were very rough. These seats were easy to use and pack, and made a big difference in our comfort level.
