Very light weight and compact, great for any hiker!

I especially like the light weight and that is rolls up to an 8x10" size that slips easily into the stuff sack with my down bag.

INTRO

Not knowing my objectives when I deployed to Haiti, I purchased this mat for both sleeping outdoors or comverting it into a camping chair. The construction is lightweight and fits easily into my Tactical Backpack. The negative is that I had to purchase a sac for it separately.

USE

This pad is comfortable, as a stand alone pad or useful when trying to sleep on a military mattress. Open the seal, and the pad inflates in a matter of seconds. Taking this pad down takes about 3-5 minutes to roll, empty the air and then fold again. The outer covering is durable.

PRO

Light
Versatile and compact

CON

No accompanying sack

OVERALL

This is a great accessory sleeping pad for both camping, military operations or even when watching a game (with the chair accessory).

I will be field testing this mattress in a week and will update my review thereafter. Initial impressions are that it is a decently lightweight and small mattress when rolled up. Very nice for lightweight and space saving backpackers like myself. After rolling it out it is plenty long enough(the reg size) and not too wide but will do the job just fine. It won't inflate completely by itself so I blew it up almost to its max and found it to be VERY comfortable and supportive. I am quite impressed with this mattress, it seems like it will be very comfortable.

Only con I can think of is the price and that it doesn't come with the stuff sack. Other than that, it gets a 5/5 for doing EXACTLY what it is meant to do, and doing it very well. You get what you pay for and this lightweight comfortable and compact mattress isn't lacking.

UPDATE:
After 3 day backpacking trip in November in W.V. this sleeping pad worked perfectly. No complaints. Insulated from the icy ground well. Very comfortable. Very light. Very pleased!!

Excellent mattress for backpacking. I have always slept on the ground because I just didn't think a matt like this was worth the money or valuable space it would take up in my pack, boy was I wrong. I have never slept through the night while camping untill now. You wouldn't believe the difference that a 1 1/2 inch foam matt can make. It earns the space it takes up in my pack. I do think it was worth the $100.00 I spent on it, but I think that the storage bag should come with it. I had to pay an extra $20.00 to get it.

Color Name: PomegranateSize Name: Small Verified Purchase
Purchased 6/2011 for a summer bicycle camping trip
PROS:
- Comfortable!
- Easy self-inflating, can make firmer by blowing by mouth (no pump required).
- Perfect length for kids / small adults (under 5'6"). If you're taller, consider the bigger size (but remember, it's a bit heavier & takes up more room).
CONS:
- Some effort required to roll it tightly enough to fit in its stuff sack.
- For long-term storage (i.e., at home, when not traveling) must be left un-rolled; need to find a space to keep it!

This is one of the best pads for backpacking. Nice and light weight, and thick enough that you never touch the ground. Only downside to all of the self inflating pads is the foam is somewhat a memory foam, so for best results it needs to be stored fully inflated and the rolled up time has to be minimal. Ive blown this pad up many times and its not very hard if your lazy like me and dont want to store it inflated. Well recommended for backpackers, and ive started using mine for all my car camping now too.

The Therm-a-Rest ProLite Plus is a lightweight, compact, comfortable and highly effective mattress to insulate you from the ground especially in cold weather. If you have been backpacking and hit the trail for a long hike your body will appreciate a comfortable nights rest on this mattress. The importance of a good nights sleep cannot be underestimated and this mattress will make that possible.

On the flip side the mattress does not come with a stuff sack and can be difficult to fold compact enough to fit into the Therm-a-Rest ProLite Plus Stuff Sack. This is especially true if your hands are cold or injured. Of course any air mattress has the potential to get a hole and leak air so it would be wise to have a patch kit for such a situation. Despite all this the Therm-a-Rest ProLite Plus is a 5 star mattress that I would not be without on any of my trips.

I like to use two pads by using a Thermarest Ridge Rest Solar Sleeping Pad in conjunction with a Therm-a-Rest ProLite Plus Mattress for a double layer of warmth and comfort especially when doing cold weather camping. While the air mattress can get a hole and deflate the Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest Solar Sleeping Pad will not have such issues and is a dependable pad if something should happen to the air mattress.

I recommend the Therm-a-Rest ProLite Plus Mattress as it is very comfortable and packs very small. After a hard day on the trail your body will thank you for a great nights rest.

I ordered this pad for backpacking. I wanted something that was light weight, compactable and had an insulating quality to it and that is exactly what I got.
Like I said, it's light and has a small form factor. Setup is a breeze as well and getting it ready to travel. The added insulation (R-value) is nice as well and has kept be warm while camping on the ground.

Very durable too.

I ordered the regular size and it fits me perfectly. I'm about 5'5, 130lbs and there is plenty of coverage. It would easily work for someone taller and bigger than I.

I will order another for my wife when she is ready to hit some trails with me, until then, I will enjoy it on my solo adventures.

By the way, GREAT price on this pad! Also highly reviewed on backpacker sites as well. Good stuff.

UPDATE: Just an Update: I really do enjoy this pad. It's not the lightest out there but it really works well. I recently used it for an overnight in the Pisgah National Forest and I slept great even on the uneven ground. It's easy to set up and to put away. It also has a decent R-value to assist with warmth.
