This product saved me!,

I borrowed one of these for a campout high in the Wyoming mountains. We were with a large group sleeping out in the open. I recently purchase my own because I liked it so much. On the trip had a "burrito" consisting of my sleeping bag, a wool and fleece blanket covered by a small tarp. This little baby was underneath. Not only did it provide comfort on the hard ground, it provided protection keeping me off the running water on the ground when hard rain started to pelt us for 2-4 hours. I think the convoluted water resistant design of this helped. Except for a little bit of water on the top opening of my sleeping bag, i was dry, one of the very few in our large group. Most of the other people were drenched.

Surprising.,

I'd had doubts about getting a folding pad with these joints since I generally beat the living hell out of all of my gear and was worried that the weakened folding areas would give out over a short span of time. They haven't. It's light, the eggshell design helps maintain warmth and comfort, and it's tough enough to cram and shove around. It's a little bulky and if you're of the type that likes to put the pad in your sleeping bag with you its form makes that difficult, but the compromise in weight and efficiency makes up for it in my eyes.

I like it well enough as it does keep you insulated from the cold hard ground. Good for camping when you go to a camp ground and unload your car but I might try another one that rolls up for my back packing trips. It is light weight and has some give with its egg shell type material which I need as I tend to sleep on my side and without it wake up with an aching hip. One time while camping some rain got in the tent and pooled on the floor yet my sleeping bag stayed dry thanks to the therm a rest.

This mat is great. If you're looking for ultra-light weight sleeping pad, this is perfect. Also work fantastic on the sand under a beach towel. Have only taken when I go back-packing camping where weight is an issue...for car camping for with something heavier and more comfortable. Great pad!

MUST BUY!,

I can not say enough GREAT things about this sleeping mat. I bought the full size and actually ended up cutting it in half, giving me two mats. They reach the length of my torso which is all i need. But whether you use full length, 3/4 or do what I did I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone. Super comfortable, extremely lightweight and waterproof. It also works great as a a camping seat. Just fold it up in an "L" position and lean against a rock and there ya go! This is a must buy in my book!

I've haven't tried or claim to have used every sleeping mat out there, but I have used a few and this is by far the best combo and value I have found. It weighs virtually nothing and is easier to pack than many because it folds. I prefer it to inflatables because of its significant weight savings and quicker pack time. Sleeping on the ground is just not going to be amazingly comfortable. This mat does help though.

I ordered a Therm-a-Rest for a number of reasons:
1) Primarily as a meditation seat. I got the regular size, so I unfold a few sections for my knees, and use the rest for my seat. It's perfect, especially since I frequently meditate outside, and don't want to worry about getting something dirty. The Therm-a-Rest is holding it's shape nicely, no sagging so far (it's been about a month). 2) As a yoga mat. Again, getting the regular size (even though I'm a small woman) is perfect, and allows me to both meditate and do yoga on the go. 3) As a camping mat, which is what it was intended for. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is because BackCountry.com, who ships this product, was a bit disappointing to work with. First they shipped me the wrong product, then forgot to ship me the right product until I called again, wondering where my order was. They fixed things quickly once I spoke to them, but the lack of attention affected my opinion of them. |
