5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Help..., February 27, 2003
This review is from: Thermal and Moisture Protection Manual (Hardcover)
This book has been a great help in my practice. Good, practical details on envelope systems, but would like to see more wall details (especially on EIFS and stucco). Conceptual approach helps me design buildings with confidence that they won't leak.

1.0 out of 5 stars not a good reference book, December 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Thermal and Moisture Protection Manual (Hardcover)
This book is full of information with diagrams and drawings scattered throughout the text. There are graphs and calculations that are presented in each chapter for the various loads and gradients that can be calculated. But, Good Luck finding anything! The book is extremely vague and should merely be used as a reading book if you're bored and really enjoy learning about building envelopes. BUt if you need to look up an equation or theory, don't turn to the index, it won't be listed there along with the numerous other omissions that aren't listed which made this book incredible hard to use and reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential guide to a watertight building envelope, March 12, 2011

This review is from: Thermal and Moisture Protection Manual (Hardcover)
Creating a proper building envelope requires a thorough understanding of the thermal, vapor transmission and water barrier properties of each element of the envelope and an equal understanding of how these elements work together. Christine Beall's knowledge of these subjects is both broad and deep, while her presentation of her knowledge is is clear and concise. I have over 50 years of experience building large structures and I still find myself referring back to this book to refresh my memory or clarify a point relative to a specific situation on a project. A construction library can have many books and a variety of reference materials but it would not be complete if it did not include this book.
