This is a terrific therapeutic neck compress. Its shape is just right and it doesn't have that rice-type smell you can get after microwaving wraps filled with natural materials. The shape is far superior to a plain cylindrical wrap--no bunching of the filling at the ends, and it conforms to the neck. I have one of these at work and one at home.

I was surprised by how warm and moist the wrap stayed, but I found the weight problematic in keeping the wrap in place. I think some kind of velcro or thicker strap may be necessary if you wrap it around your abdomen to prevent it from slipping. Works well enough for shoulders and neck though. Stays nice and warm for about 2 hours, but only lasts 3 times in the microwave before you need to let it rest. I have not tried it cold. Next time I might go for the disposable hot/cold patches. But if you use compress wraps a LOT, then this is the way to go. Alternatively, you can use an old pillowcase filled with beans and microwave it. It works in a pinch.

I love the fact that this is so portable. I even take it to work! It feels really good when warmed in the microwave for a minute and 1/2. I haven't used it cold, but that would probably be good to, I just like the heat.

I originally purchased this Thermalon Microwave Activated pad for a sore shoulder. It tied easily to my shoulder and stayed in place even when I was walking around. (This was so convenient after trying to use an old-style heating pad that plugged in and kept me tied to the sofa.) Now that my shoulder is feeling better, my husband is using this wonderful product daily for a stiff neck, and is so happy that I purchased it. I may never get it back from him!!

This heating pad has very long ties that can be secured to your body in so many different ways. It retains the heat for around 15 minutes after being warmed in the microwave for around a minute. It is a fantastic product that we highly recommend.

this product is a godsend! since a car accident 4 years ago, i've had re-occurring muscle pain in my neck and shoulders. i used to go to a physical therapist who would apply moist heat to my problem areas, and then follow with a massage. it was a combination that gave me great relief. my insurance company has since stopped paying for treatments so i haven't been to a physical therapist in a long time, so i've been looking for a solution i can do myself at home and this product was the answer!

the product is easy to use and is ready within a minute or so in the microwave. it delivers ample/strong moist heat as promised and it feels just like the treatment i used to get at physical therapy (it may even be better because it doesn't leave my clothes/skin wet). i love that the versatile shape of this product will allow me to use it for various parts of the body (back, waist, etc.) and it's even more value for my money that i can put it in the freezer and use it as a cold compress.

Fits better for smaller person than the other Thermalon neck wrap. The material is softer and more flexible. Try tying it behind your back (via armpits) instead of around the front of neck so that it doesn't choke you. Works great. I love the Thermalon products. I use it for thoracic outlet syndrome before stretching-- really helps to relax and soften the muscle, fascia.

Due to overly straining my achilles tendon in the past playing volleyball and running long distance I need to ice it everytime after running or exercising. I keep the compress in the freezer and pull it out when I need it. I had used this thermalon product before at a friend's place and was immediately impressed, and I knew what I was buying. The soft material and the gradual way in which it ices make it a very pleasant product. I used to put some ice cubes in a plastic bag, what a hassle and what a mess.... Spending the not even $40 is definitely worth it.

This item provides great level of heat. It is designed nicely to fit right around the neck. The drawbacks for me - it does not stay hot long enough and it does not stay in place well unless you tie it tightly around yourself.

As a cold wrap it just doesn't get cold enough and the tie is not secure enough, a velcro fasten would have been much better.

Using this pad does enable one to concentrate the heat or the cold in a specific area and secure it there to. However, I have found that the heat only last about fifteen minutes and not the 30 minutes that the instructions say it will, but it does work fine while the heat or the cold last.
