5.0 out of 5 stars Case fan (not power supply), March 1, 2005

This review is from: Thermaltake A2018 Smart Case Fan Blue 120MM (Personal Computers)
It looks like somehow the description for a power supply was erroneously listed here (probably by the one vendor selling a much higher priced item than everyone else). Here's a description of this fan (just info I picked up while shopping for it).

Fan speed may be set 3 different ways:
1. Full Speed - when jumper on
2. Temperature Control - fan speed varies according to the temperature detected by the sensor
3. Manual Control - adjust fan speed manually via fan speed control, made to slide into an open PCI slot

Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25mm
Bearing Type: 1 Ball 1 Sleeve
Nominal Speed(RPM): 1300±20% RPM at 20°C to 2800±10% RPM at 55°C
Max Air Flow: 38.6 to 93.7 CFM
Max Pressure: 1.5 to 4.1 mm-H2O
Rated Voltage: 12V
Connector: 3 Pin
Noise: 17 dBA at 1300 RPM to 46.5 dBA at 2800 RPM

Works like it's supposed to. Only drawback is the fan wires could have been a little longer.

Very good fan for the price. I only use it with manual speed setting so I don't know how well the settings work. Right off the bat it dropped the overall temperature of my system by several degrees.

pushes a lot of air, quite when at low speed. i have the fan speed mounted on the front of my case and it works well. just don't get your finger caught inside when it turns on (like I did when testing it) , it will make a bloody mess :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fans!, June 5, 2010

I purchased three of these fans for my Gigabyte 3d Aurora II case. These fans push about 4x as much air at 2700RPMs than my old stock 1000 RPM ones did. I am running a Q6600 with a Atric Cooling Freezer Pro 7 on the cpu Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 Copper Heatpipe Quiet CPU Cooler 45CFM 27.2dBA for Intel LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA775, AMD AM3, AM2+: Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 (PWM, Retail). My CPU temp was about 32C before adding the case fans. Now it sits at 26C. Also my graphics card used to get over 100C while playing games and now it sits under 60C. Yes these fans are loud - but what fans spinning as fast are not? They do an EXCELLENT job keeping the case cool and everything inside it as well! I am not using the controller that came with them as it would take up three expansion slots. I also opted out of using the temperature bob. I do have them all hooked up to a Zalman ZM-MFC2 fan controller with temperaure bobs . The whole system works great!

I just reviewed a similar Thermaltake fan; you can see it via the link below.

Thermaltake A2029 120mm Smart Case Fan II

Features:
-Silent at 1500 RPM.
-Nice blue light.
-Can be set up for automatic control via a temperature sensor.
-Can be manually controlled with a knob from outside the computer case.
-Can be set to full throttle.
-Clearly marks the direction of the air flow so you don't mount it incorrectly.

This one hasn't presented the glitch that I mention in the other fan's review, so this one earned the 5 stars 100% clean and fair. Highly recommended.
