Product Description

Differs from the traditional framed fans by reducing the backpressure and turbulence produced by the air hitting the side walls of traditional fans. As a result, the frameless fans are much quieter than the traditional fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fan for the price, August 29, 2009

PROPS. The fan does its job well: i got -10C temperature drop comparing to the regular Intel cooler. With this cooler I was able to overclock my Q9550 to 3.4Ghz (stable). Yes, it gets very hot at heavy loading (~85C) but this is OK since its maximum temperature is 100C. At normal loading CPU heats till 55C that is good for air cooling.

CONS. Holders that lock cooler on the MB are too weak. I was able to lock only two of them, others are in fact not used. Though, looks like this doesn't affect colling effectiveness.

HINT. Before installing this coller I strongly recommend to remove MB from the case. Radiator covers lockers so it's not easy to access them when mobo fixed in chasis. Also, keep in mind that this cooler makes air flow in your case totally different that may affect cooling of other devices (like SB). So think twice before choosing orientation of the fan (you have 4 choices).

5.0 out of 5 stars i use this cooler without the fan, February 7, 2009
This review is from: Thermaltake CL-P0370 TMG i1 CPU Cooler for Intel LGA775 (Personal Computers)
I bought this cpu cooler for my intel 6700 2.66GHz at stock speed. I use two 120mm fans, one the back of my case and the other on the front. This heatsink is so large that I didn't even need to use the fan it came with. My system runs fine and its much quieter now too. I'll try to write more about it later. [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet and cool, June 9, 2007

I am a computer professional and have built computers for over 20 years. As processors improve, the need for more cooling power increases. As the fan size has increased, so has the noise. The standard CPU cooler I installed in my last computer was so noisy (compared to the older generation smaller fans) that I tended to not use my best computer and left it turned off to keep it quiet.

I finally searched for replacement fans searching for cooling power and quiet.

Installation wasn't as easy as I had wished. My other fan attached differently and this fan is larger so I had to reposition items. This is not a reason to not purchase, only be aware that this fan will not fit in a small case. Look at the dimensions and make sure it will fit before you buy.

I have installed this fan and monitored its cooling power. It does a very good job of cooling and it is very quiet. This computer is now the quietest of my current 5 computers. I am very pleased with this cpu cooler and am purchasing another one.

I have learned one lesson from this. It is now as important to search for powerful and quiet cpu coolers as it is to look at processor and motherboard specs.
