I wanted this case mainly because it had room for plenty of HDDs, USB 3 port on the front, and it has lots of space for 120mm case fans.
The MB mount is too close to where the fans at the top mount so if you're like me and have memory modules at the top of the MB then you can't use one of the fans. The other top fan I can't use because the power connector to my particular MB is at the edge and the fan is again in the way... The front fan mount described in the product description has no obvious way to mount and I simply gave up on it. The included fan, while quiet @ just 1K rpms, blows just a soft wisp of air. I installed two of my own 120mm fans - one in the side port blowing on the video card. About the only good the fan mounts at the top of the case do is discharge heat by means of convection.
On the plus side: Tool-les 3.5" and 5.25" installation. (I had no problem with HDDs and a 3.5" USB to Memory card reader as well as the optical drive) Side mount 120mm Fan blows right over video card IMO the case look great with a black faced optical drive and 3.5" memory card reader If you don't need all 5 internal HDDs there's plenty of room for a very long video card - the manual states 320mm long but I think that would leave no room for power connectors.
In the end I was able to get everything to work and considering the price and good looks I think there is value here.

the product does its job, not well constructed, the usb 2.0 port at the front is not working, too much fan vents the air doesn't suck well through the case, it looks good and feels sturdy enough

I'm bias for Thermaltake. I like their chassis'. Between my father in law and myself I've used Tsunami Dream (metal version of the soprano), Armor+, Armor+ MX, Armor A90, and now the Commander MSI. Some things to note... This case is smaller than your typical mid tower. It is significantly smaller than the A90. I purchased the A90 myself b/c my motherboard came with a USB3.0 3.5" box so I didn't need USB 3.0.
The height limitation of a heatsink per the user manual is 170mm (I'm using the stock at the moment). The PCI slots in the back do not have removable and replaceable shields. They have the top and bottom as your typical removable shield the others are break away tabs. Once removed, they are removed (you can probably use a tight screw to hold them back in place, but they do not securely fit in). The height is small so the motherboard fits just barely at your PSU (resting on the PSU bracket). I installed the optional top fan, which is resting against my memory clips. You will not be able to install more memory without taking out the fan first. Talk about fitting just perfectly. The USB cable which they expect you to pass through to the back (which I knew) doesn't actually fit through the water cooling hole... I thought I'd actually be able to pass it through the hole like in other chassis designs, not take off a whole PCI slot to pass through the 1 cable. The cable is also a little short, not much options for cable management here.
The front cover has 4 screws and 2 press fits. Not "bad" just an annoyance. Make sure you get the screws before the front comes off. Also there are 4 long screws that aren't mentioned in the manual. I believe these are for installing the front fan, otherwise you don't have anything that will fit.Read more ›

This case is a great budget build case. Comes with no frills, which keeps costs down, but ample cable management room. Previous reviews are correct, a fan mounted on top will hit your memory slots or your 4/8 pin connector. Simple fix for me was to lop off one corner where it was hitting my RAM mounts. Yes, the USB3.0 for the front runs off of a USB plug, however, there are quite a few adapters available to take your mainboard USB3.0 20 pin connector to two USB ports. Running the plug to this keeps a superfluous cable from poking out the rear. Thermaltake DID provide a slot for this connector, but running it through that knockout runs the cable right behind the window. Ugly IMO, but an easy fix. Power and reset buttons feel solid. Power and HDD access LED aren't too bright. Knockouts for expansion slots mount back in a little strangely, but method reduces the case size. It's right inbetween what I would call a mini tower and a mid tower.
There are also mount holes for a 140mm fan up front to cool HDD's
Pros: Good looking Ample room Little flex Good airflow Easy to install Right size.
Cons: USB connection for front panel Top fans require modification for install Somewhat of a tight squeeze for cable management
For me, after building so many computers, these cons aren't worth taking off a star, because this case is worth every penny of it's low price.
Build: MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 AMD A8-6600K BLACK PNY XLR8 DDR3 1600 8GB RAIDMAX 500W COBRA POWER ZALMAN CNPS7000 WD CAVIAR BLACK 250GB LG M-DISK OPTICAL DRIVE 3x COOLERMASTER SICKLE FLOW GREEN LED
Everything fits like a glove and is running well, so I'm going to keep buying Thermaltake cases, as this is the second in my own home. (wifey's computer)
