1.0 out of 5 stars BE AWARE!!!! DON'T BELIEVE THE SPECS, July 14, 2011
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 650W ATX Modular Active PFC Power Supply TRX-650M (Personal Computers)
This psu will crash at 60% load of its total capacity making the system unstable, at 80% the fan will make so much noise that you will think it's a defective psu but it's not, I researched and this happens on all of the TR2 series and some of them just fries. So this psu won't deliver the amps it is supposed to, avoid TR2 series, I bought this psu and returned it the next day, I don't think I will give thermaltake a chance again, not even on other series.

The only good thing about this psu is that is modular but this is a grey psu, I would have rather a black one that matches my case.

If you are looking for a good psu try searching something else, I have heard that Antec and Corsair are the best, and the enthusiast series are suppose to be great even when they are not modular you can hide most of the extra cables if you have a good gamming case.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great PSU in the 650w range, June 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Thermaltake TR2 650W ATX Modular Active PFC Power Supply TRX-650M (Personal Computers)
I usually go straight for Thermaltake for many of my PC components. It is a good, appraised brand that has never failed me before.

Living up to its standards, this heavy power supply feels good to the touch. You can tell it is very solid and durable. Installation was fairly easy except the cables could be longer, so it's not the best option if installing bottom-mounted.

The modular cables is what caught my attention. There is noticeably less clutter in your case which provides better ventilation.

Right now this PSU is feeding my system with the following specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T - no overclock
Asus M4N98TD Evo - factory settings
8 GB RAM Corsair 1333 MHz - No overclock
1 MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II - No additional overclock, already factory OC'ed.
Western Digital Caviar Black - 640 GB
Seagate Barracuda - 160 GB
1 SATA DVD Burner
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro with external recording interface, internally powered.
Antec 902 V3 Case (2x 120mm front intake fans, 1x 200 mm top exhaust fan, 1x 120 mm rear exhaust fan)

It has provided stable power with my system reaching peaks of around 350 watts under load, playing graphically intense games. This gives me enough additional power to overclock and possibly add another GTX 560 Ti in SLI, though this PSU is not SLI Certified.

Only thing I regret apart from the somewhat short motherboard cables is the lack of 80 plus bronze certification. Honestly, after placing my order I regretted not getting a different one with 80 plus bronze, but this one is surprisingly good, stable and very, very quiet which is extremely important to me.

Yes, I would recommend this power supply if you don't plan on doing SLI/CrossfireX with top-of-the-line video cards like 580's/6970's and above.
