When looking for small wien coolers, I was scared of getting a so bad one because while looking for cheap and small wine cooler I've seen that there are many reviews saying that the one they bought makes a lot of noise, broke down or something else... After making some research I decided to get this wine cooler, and I ought to say that I'm happy to have chosen this one. It doesn't makes noise at all. It keeps the wine at the temperature I chose as it is supposed to do. It's got a light inside so you can see the wine if you like to. You may like also to leave the light turned on because it looks cool at night. Also, I've got the Prime Membership, so I got the two days shipping for free. If you don't have the Membership, don't worry Amazon always send the product on time.

Since I've seen so many people saying that the Wine Cooler they got broke down, I will update the review if it happens to me. It's been a week since I bought it, and the cooler works perfectly.

The wine cooler stopped working on March 26, 2013. I send the wine cooler to the manufacturer, and they fixed it.

Edit: This wine cooler is still working as of April 7th, 2014.

You read a lot of reviews of wine coolers being too loud or do not cool properly. This may be a direct result of people not reading directions. When you move a refrigerator of any kind the unit is supposed to be kept upright. The reason for this is because there is very thick lubricant (oil) in the compressor unit. If the refrigerator has been moved, stored, or delivered sideways the oil must be given time to drain back into the compressor properly. If your unit was just delivered to you and the box is upright then you have to assume that it could have been on the truck for several days. This means the oil is not in the correct position in the compressor to be turned on as soon as you bring it home. The box this unit was shipped in is large and will more than likely have to be put on its side to fit in your vehicle. The instructions with this unit clearly state not to turn the unit on for a few hours to allow the lubricant to settle properly. I allowed for three hours to pass before plugging the unit in. Additionally, my wine was in my regular refrigerator and already cold when I put them in this cooler. This takes the unit less work to get the temperature down. This unit is very quiet and is keeping the temperature steady. You can hear the fan but during a normal conversation or with the tv on you have to really listen for it. For the money, this is a very nice and attractive unit.

Edited on 11/24: Failed within a year. Opened the unit up today to get a bottle and with the display reading 47 degrees the inside of the cooler was a balmy 80 degrees or so. The cooler was blowing warm air. I had several $30 plus bottles in here that are probable ruined. Stay away from this garbage. You get what you pay for...as usual. This unit worked well enough for a while but it's just another peace of junk that is built to fail at some point.

Have had it for a month or so with no issues. The light is a nice touch at night looking for a bottle.
Runs quietly and with 12 bottles in it keeps wine at 51 degrees (lowest setting) which is a great "chilled" temp.

UPDATE, May 24: Well, two months after I got this, it broke. I noticed that it wasn't running one day and tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. It came on for about two seconds, made a zapping sound, and then shut off. I contacted Sunpentown and the customer service experience was great. They were very responsive and shipped me a new one, which arrived today. They gave me a return label so that I could use the box from the new one to ship back the old one, free. The new one seems to be working fine, for now... but naturally I'm a bit nervous with summer coming up how this unit will do.

I live in an apartment that tends to be warm and has a small kitchen. After months of watching bottles of wine that I'd splurged on sit on the floor in various corners (maybe it's more cellar-like down there with the adjacent window open?) or in the vibrating fridge (can't have been good for that nice Pinot), I decided to look into wine fridges. Except I had no room for one. I got a Vinotemp wall-mounted unit, which would have been an ok solution if it had been remotely possible for me or my boyfriend, who also tried, to get it mounted safely. It nearly crashed to the floor twice, and that was when it was empty. This Spt fridge seemed to have the best reviews on Amazon, but it was out of stock. It finally arrived the other day after about a three-week delay and is perfect. It's very compact and quiet -- I have it in a walk-in closet and you can hear a very low hum within the closet, but nothing outside it. It is a simple fridge with just the temperature setting and an interior light button, but within about two hours it had chilled all 12 bottles of wine to a perfect 55 degrees, where I set it.

Because it's compact, unusually shaped bottles (with larger bases) may not fit with 11 other bottles, but the racks can be shifted. It's also worth noting that the door opens from the left -- perfect for my purposes, but worth considering for placement.

Noticed that many negative reviewers of this and other fridges complained about them giving out too quickly. I hope that doesn't happen with this one, but it seems to be a widespread issue. My mom's larger wine fridge has been going strong for at least 7 years. That's an Ewave, but I don't know if they make those anymore.

This Fridge stopped working after the six-ed day. I would like to contact the seller but Amazon doesn't provide me with a way to do so. The fridge was holding it's temp really well the first five days and the humidity was stable, however, on day six it started to heat the fridge. The temp on the outer display said 32 degrees F, however my thermometer inside told me the temp was up to 78 degrees F... It is still kicking on and of however it isn't cooling anymore I think the temp sensor is bust and it would probably be an easy fix but since there is no way to contact the seller/manufacturer (?) I only have one option: send it back...
Too bad..

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at this model when it arrived over a year ago. I had room for bottles with the corks placed back in, in addition to having room for wine stoppers as well. It also remembered where the thermostat was set to in the event of a power outage. It would go back to the setting once power was restored.

HOWEVER...Unit died right after the 1 year mark. Doesn't it always happen that way?

Take it for what its worth.

Looks sleek, fairly quiet (I live downtown - it still beats limited traffic noise). It won't accomodate larger format bottles in standard format, so bear this in mind.

I'm very apprehensive about rating this product because I read so many negative comments, but I have not had any problems with the wine cooler. As stated by others, it has a low hum, but it is nothing that is too distracting...you will hear it. I set the temparature 55 degrees 4 1/2 months ago and it only changed once when we had air conditioning problems, it went up to 59, but adjusted back to 55 degrees within 5 or 6 hours. I look at the temp every time I am in the area just in case, but it maintains the temp. Hopefully, it lasts for several years. I believe that you must stand it up wherever you place it, as soon as you get it and leave it unplugged for at least 8 hours. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. It is definitely not for outdoors where it may get hot. My house is usually between 72-75 degrees. I will update the review if I have ANY issues with it.

I just got this yesterday and set it to 57 and it works perfectly. I just purchased some reds and opened door stacked them in there, fit perfectly and the temp didn't budge. I had a cheap (1/2 priced) 6 bottle Emerson that worked well for 4 years, now it won't cool down, it is being affected my our Indian Summer heat, which it never mattered before how hot my place got. This new one looks soooo much better, very quiet, no complaints at all, so far. I will do another post if anything changes, but so far I love it. Btw, it is positioned exactly next to my old one. So the placment is the same, and staying at a cool 57! Exactly where I want it. It is about 68 in my condo right now.
