Seriously I don't understand the negative reviews about the plastic? What do you expect for the price. When assembled properly and screwed into the window sill, it works great and the cats love it. It is ONLY secure when screwed into the window sill, the velcro simply isn't strong enough except for the smallest kittens but why risk it. The legs are plastic but sturdy when attached properly and SNAPPED into place - if it doesn't snap, you didn't secure it properly to the base. You can use a hammer to tap the legs into place so that they snap securely. Also be sure you put the legs on the base in the right direction, if you do it backwards it won't fit against the window sill properly. It just sounds like several reviewers didn't get the window sill assembled correctly. I have assembled 4, two for my home and two for my sister's home. All our cats love them. I originally had just one but my two cats fought over it, so I bought another one. (I have both the unheated and the heated versions)

NOTE ABOUT THE SCREWS: I also don't understand the fear of screwing something into the window sill. I have already moved one of the window seats and filled in the holes with a little spackle and touched up with paint. It's no different from putting holes in your wall and screwing items into the wall studs. When you remove it, you fill it in and touch it up. No need to push furniture up against the window sill, just use a couple of screws and it will work as intended.

First, I want to be sure to say that the seller was wonderful. I got the perch a lot sooner than I thought I would, and the experience was positive.

On to the product. Unfortunately, I'm not so happy with this, especially considering the price. The legs would fall off the bottom of the perch, and I finally had to use wire to hold them in place. Then, the velcro meant to hold the perch on our sill (Which is marble, so no screws allowed) came loose, and the whole thing went tumbling down, kitty and all. She was not amused. Finally, we just put a chair next to the window and used it to balance the perch more firmly. My husband's handy with tools, so we're going to make our own support brackets.

Now, you may ask, "Why are you keeping the darn thing when it won't stay put and you have to go to a lot of effort to keep it from dropping your cat?" Number one, I'm too lazy to do a return. Number two - and this is the better reason - the heating element works, and it works really well. The cat loves it, and will still use it even after it sent her plummeting to the ground. I'd almost buy just the heating pad and make my own darn perch, really.

I have 2 ten year old cats and they both fight over who gets to stay on it. I wasn't sure if they would take to this, but as soon as I put it up, they were on it. They like that its heated, especially as its winter and my window area gets cold. So now they can look out and stay warm. It was very easy to install. The heater is as long as the platform so the platform stays uniformly warm. And its nicely padded and soft. It is so cute to drive home from work and drive up to my house and see my cats through the window, up on their window seat, watching for me to come home to feed them. And as they see my car and see it's me, they jump down and go to the door to greet me.
