Seems to be quality control issues with this product. Upon receiving it,(and before removing it from it original packaging) I discovered that the thermometer bulb was not fastened to the temp scale. I assumed it had come loose during shipping, so I sent it back and requested a replacement. Amazon does a nice job with returns so this was not a problem. However, the replacement had the identical problem. I thought maybe I was missing something, so I removed it from the blister pak packaging and tried to open it up to re-attach the bulb to the scale but was unable to open it up. So that one was returned also.
In summary, great return policy by Amazon... but a lousy product by Thermor.

This was just what I was looking for! I will warn everyone that this thermometer is big, but we like that. It is affixed to its own buoy and comes attached to a line with a clip at the end for hooking to something so it won't float away. Temp gauge seems accurate. Overall, I am very happy.

The product appears to be nicely designed and the temperature is easy to read. However, the one I received was not assembled correctly at the factory. The thermometer was detached from the temperature scale. It appeared as if little effort was made by the assembler to do a good job, since the metal thermometer retaining clips I found inside, were never used.
With some difficulty, I managed to pry off the top and repair the unit. I don't recommend this to anyone and I should have returned it.
Like I said, it looks well designed but there is a problem with quality control. I'd be hesitant to order another one fearing it would also be defective. If you get a good one, I'd probably give it 4/5 stars.
