I was skeptical to say the least and couldn't understand why a cup would cost so much. I had tried many other brands but still could't find a cup that would keep my coffee hot for more than 2 hours. This Thermos brand promised it would keep liquids hot for 5 hours. I filled this cup with hot coffee at 7:30am and it was still hot after 1:30 pm! I have not tried cold liquids but I'm sure that it meets the promised 9 hours. If you want a cup that really keeps your liquids hot and doesn't spill-this is the one...don't waste your money or coffee on anyting else!

I am a Chicago commuter and a maturing coffee addict. Since our public trans system can be extremely crowded, I needed the following characteristics:

~Easy to hold (1 arm is usually propping myself up) & aesthetically pleasing (my girly side)
~Leak/spill proof
~Opens/closes with one motion
~Stainless steel
~Retains heat/cold temperature
~ALL components can be cleaned

I paid $23. Not bad considering it held up to all my requirements. I've received many compliments on its look/style, it absolutely doesn't leak/spill, bought my coffee this morning at 8am- it's now 1:30pm and STILL warm! Mind you, it's very cold and windy today! Since I need caffeine throughout the day, this allows me to sip leisurely.

I spent a lot of time researching and found that even though Contigo's are popular, black crustiness builds in the lids b/c they cannot be taken apart. Since coffee contains dairy products, it *NEEDS* to be cleaned thoroughly-- pls do not overlook this important feature! I must say, assembling it after the 1st wash was a bit frustrating, but I'm sure it'll get easier the more I use/wash it. Stainless steel doesn't affect the flavor of your beverage. This is also a factor most people tend to overlook. Plastic is less expensive, however, will not insulate your drink. This particular travel mug is well worth the $23, it's the commuter's dream come true!

PS- If there was one thing I would add to the mug... it'd be a rubber slip proof sleeve. But no biggie!

This mug is by far THE best mug I've ever owned. After pouring boiling hot water at around 9pm, the water's still hot the next morning when I wake up. Usually I brew my coffee at 6am, and it will still stay warn until 4~5pm. I've also try to make ice coffee, and the ice doesn't even melt overnight and it stays cool for the whole day even after the ice melt.

and just FYI, the mug is very easy to clean, you can pretty much take everything apart. Also the mug doesn't leak at all. Highly recommended!
