Does the Job,

I wanted to replace my old stained Thermos carafe but couldn't find a 40oz version like my old one and settled on this 32oz version. Would have preferred a 40oz version...This 32oz version does the job OK except that the small twist-on top is dificult to screw on, does not flow as fast as my old 40oz carafe with the big twist top. However, I like the "trigger" valve on this version. Another drawback is the lip of the pot drips after you pour and the drip flows all the way down the front of the pot to the countertop. My old one did not do that...But hey, what do want for $10-$12 bucks?

If you want your coffee hot, leave it in the cooker!,
By Jack Telles "jack" (Northern WI, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Thermos 710 Coffee Carafe
We purchased four of these dogs to replace the stained ones of years ago. After several tries (even with pre-heated water) we found the coffee to be (at best tepid after just an hour). Needless to say, we have reverted to the old tried and true carafes even though they are stained. The literature claims a twelve hour temperature retention for hot liquids but that claim is is a stretch beyond credulity. Our old thermos was made in Germany; these are made in China. Like so many of today's products, they they pale by comparison to yesteryears. Don't buy it unless you use it immediately for table convenience.

The Thermos Coffee Carafe is great for when you are entertaining and want your coffee to stay warm. This way you don't have to keep running back to the kitchen, so you can spend some more time with your guests. Easy clean up. Just preheat or cool before using.

Functional, sort of, but cheap looking,

The carafe keeps liquids warm pretty well. The fact that it's unattractive is probably tied to the fact that it was cheap. But it's NOT okay that it drips. A carafe that drips coffee every time it's served is unacceptable.

The Thermos Carafes arrived quickly, but were poorly packed. All 4 were on the bottom of the box, with no protection and layers of paper on the top. 3 were fine, 1 was broken. I give this site a 75%.

This is our third one in 35 years. We ordered this one but it was apparantly out of stock so they subsituted with a Thermos model 5000 (50oz) with a screw cap which was fine with us.

well, i suppose this carafe is adequate, it does keep coffee hot ... but the picture i clicked on when ordering was a metallic finish and i received white ... so if in doubt don't order or go to a retail store so you get what you want

Doesn't come in a box, lid forced shut from paperwork,

If this is a gift, don't expect it to come in a box, at least from one of the vendors, Joe Muscle. The packaging was an issue with this item. Since it wasn't in a box, the paperwork was stuffed inside the carafe, I had to get tweezers to try to dig it out. It seemed that the lid not open or shut properly either, maybe because it was 8x11 and they tried to 'not' stuff it way down there initially and forced it closed, then decided to fold it in half and stuffed it back down there.
