4.0 out of 5 stars Coffee lover's dream...(with reservations)
I'm a die-hard coffee drinker and have used pump pots for years. This was purchased last year and here are my thoughts:
1) Will keep coffee hot and fresh for hours. Not luke warm, but almost as hot as when first brewed. (This at the end of 8-9 hours)
2) Large push button often sticks and it's difficult to get it to release.
3) Hinged-lid is not very...

2.0 out of 5 stars OUCH... this pot design pinches fingers!
I have uesd many thermal pump pots and found this one really needs improvements on it's "open top" button and it's "pump-action" button. These buttons are really unstable and wobbly and thus getting ones fingers pinched in them is common place...OUCH!

3) Hinged-lid is not very stable, mine broke within months. Pot still works, I use mine daily.
4) If you can find the one they make that has a lever-type pump, in my opinion, it's the greatest way to go. Not only does it pump better, but lastt longer also. Only replaced mine because I broke the liner and couldn't find a replacement at the time.
5) These are awesome for retaining heat, look nice sitting on the counter and you'll never again have to drink burnt coffee.

I have uesd many thermal pump pots and found this one really needs improvements on it's "open top" button and it's "pump-action" button. These buttons are really unstable and wobbly and thus getting ones fingers pinched in them is common place...OUCH!

There is a MUCH better design to look for that we use at work that looks very similiar to this one but has instead lid opener buttons on the sides of spout (MUCH better design) and also has a stainless steel pump bar that lifts up and locks in place for pumping. Look for this design rather than this all plastic one and I guarantee you will be much happier with it. When I purchased this one I was actually thinking it would be similiar to the ones we use at work but I was wrong. I actually hate this one and regret getting it. I didn't read or look at the picture closely enough to realize this one didn't have side buttons or stainless pump bar. Dang, I wished I'd looked before I leaped and bought this one.

I've owned one just like this one for over 4 years, and have really been pleased with it. Only fault I have is the plastic piece where the metal stem fits in will crack after a few years and allows air to leak around it when trying to pump the beverage from it. Also the little rubber protector on the bottom of the stem will crack and fall off after a few years and should be made of a material that will not deteroiate with age.
Other that that, you won't find a better airpot for the money anywhere.

You gotta give it to Thermos to sell nicely designed pot that keeps my pot of coffee or tea for hours while I entertain guests. It's nicely design and works really well. I'd make a pot of coffee before the guests arrive and pour into this pot, and make another pot in my coffee maker to make sure there is plenty of hot coffee to go around.

OK, definitely an alternative use to what the makers intended, but I use this pump pot to keep hot/warm water to use with cloth wipes for cloth diapering my baby. It keeps water warm enough for a baby's tushie for at least 2 days. It so much more convenient than keeping a wipe warmer on hand which may only hold 15 wipes (lasting only a day in my house). Using it provides a mini-sponge bath for my baby at every diaper change, love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's HOT!! ...., September 29, 2006
This review is from: Thermos Insulated Service 2qt Glass Vacuum Pump Pot Gray Metallic - Thermos PP1920TRI2 (Personal Computers)
I don't like how hard it is to open it to pour liquid in/out. You have to press a button AND at the same time; get your finger-nail somehow into a crevice that looks like it's one piece and doesn't come apart. Once you open it, it looks like a bird beak opening up. Also, I wish that the top came all the way off so it could be washed easier since it looks like it would not be a good idea to get water into the top.
...Otherwise it's great! And for anyone who has a child, (or for adults) the sticker on top says: "CAUTION: May contain hot liquid..."
It holds a full pot of coffee, a 14-C if there was one made that brews more than 12-c, so it's great for many people. And it even comes in different colors!
Thermos makes a pretty reliable product and this one is one. It deserves 4 stars, but I've given it 5 to offset the harshness of another. Between our 2 averages, it gets what it deserves, 4 stars.

Bought this to keep at the office and it works great. If you prime it with hot water, the coffee will stay hot for almost 8 hours.
