Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Virtually unbreakable, this lightweight, vacuum-insulated thermos travels to work or the beach or other recreation spot. On arrival, and for hours afterward, coffee, tea, or soup will still be hot. Or lemonade, pasta salad, or a sports drink will still be chilled. It transports baby food, too. Compact (3-1/2 inches in diameter by 6-1/2 inches high) and handsome, the thermos has a satin-finish exterior and tough, nonslip, black plastic top, bottom, and L-shaped handle. Fine threading ensures the twist top seals tightly. A full-diameter mouth provides handy access to foods, and the smooth interior cleans with sponge or cloth. Preheating or prechilling with hot or cold water is recommended. --Fred Brack

4.0 out of 5 stars Replacement Lids, November 20, 2004
This review is from: Thermos Nissan 15.9-Ounce Travel Mug/Food Storage Jar (Kitchen)
My wife and I have had a pair of the JMF-500 mugs for several years and like many others the sipper lids eventually began dribbling. Last weekend I became fed-up with the dribbling and went online to find a customer service number for Thermos Nissan (1-800-831-0745). I ordered two replacement sipper lids for $8.00 shipped and this weekend I'm sitting here sipping from the new lid with no more dribbling. SWEET!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lasted longer than my marriage, June 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Thermos Nissan 15.9-Ounce Travel Mug/Food Storage Jar (Kitchen)
Noticed this mug while searching online for a French press/travel mug. My wife (soon to be ex-wife) and I bought a pair of these about 14 years ago. Used almost every day, they have performed flawlessly. This is a true vacuumed sealed unit and keeps coffee hot and drinkable about 4 hours with the drinking lid, longer if you use the full cover lid. Mine has been dropped numerous times over the years and has survived well.

In all this time, there are only two drawbacks I can think of. It's diameter, although very stable, it won't fit cup holders in many vehicles. And, if run through the dishwasher, a small amount water will sneak through the little hole in the bottom cover. Not a big deal, but it can dribble out on you while dinking (it can be removed to dry off).

Unlike my wife, this travel mug has remained true to me all these years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Thermos, with one thing to watch out for, December 1, 2001
By
This review is from: Thermos Nissan 15.9-Ounce Travel Mug/Food Storage Jar (Kitchen)
This really keeps hot things hot, cold things cold, just like it ought to. I have a 45 minute walk to work every morning, I fill this with hot tea before I set out, and the tea is still hot by the time I finish the mug full, about 30 minutes later, even on mornings when the air tempature is in the low 30s (F). The only thing to watch out for is the sipper lid is very, very easy to mis-thread. It seems to go on fine, but it isn't a tight seal, whereupon it becomes a dandy dribble cup, which drips not on your chin where you would notice it, but farther down. One cold morning I suddenly realized the cup had soaked my right pants leg. Funny to read about, I know, but embaressing at that particular moment.
