5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Thermos ! ! !
This really holds the food HOT. My biggest critics are my kids and they love it. They can finally take hot pasta or soup to school and have a hot meal. But, you MUST follow the instructions. I recommend that you allow the BOILING HOT water to sit in the thermos for a minimum of 15 minutes. Keep in mind you must put piping hot food into the container. The kids tell me...

3.0 out of 5 stars It works great, its just shaped wrong
This thermos works great and the idea behind it really is perfect, I just wish it was a bit bigger.

I know it says its 16oz, but whats the point of the spoon for something this size? The mouth isn't huge so its really hard to get anything other than yogurt or something semi-solid to stay on the spoon. If you want to put something like soup in it, be prepared...

I recommend that you allow the BOILING HOT water to sit in the thermos for a minimum of 15 minutes. Keep in mind you must put piping hot food into the container. The kids tell me that when they open the thermos hot steam comes out and the food is nice and warm. I typically fill the thermos with food around 7:00am and the kids eat lunch anywhere from 12:15 to 1:00 pm. It really seems to work. This was worth the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars This thermos is amazing!! Food stays hot all day!, December 1, 2009

After searching and reading several reviews about the variety of thermos food containers, I settled on this one.
I was sick of microwaving my food everyday, and following a suggestion from a colleague, I decided to start using a stainless steel thermos to keep my food hot!

Oh my goodness, you will NOT go wrong with this item! I put soup in it at 7am in the morning, and it's still piping hot at 1pm when I eat lunch!! It will hold an entire can of Chunky or Progresso soup, which are normally two servings per can, so you have more than enough to eat!
It's a bit pricey, but trust me, it is so well worth it! I use this everyday!
I just ordered two more---one for a Christmas gift,and the other to put my oatmeal or grits in, when I'm rushing in the mornings and don't have time to eat breakfast at home.

Oh yes!! There's a tip that's included with the thermos: If you're putting hot foods in it, then put some hot water in the thermos for about 5 minutes before adding the hot food. It extends the time that your food will maintain it's heat.

It's not necessary as I've used it without putting hot water in it prior to adding my food, and my food remained just as hot.
I've actually placed this container in my Built NY lunch bag with ice packs to keep my other foods like yogurt and fruit cool, and it still didn't affect the heat within the thermos.
Also, there is a cute little spoon that extends to full sized enclosed in the lid. Very handy!
You won't go wrong with this one! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Tough soup container perfect for a cold day, September 30, 2010
This review is from: Thermos Stainless King SK3000MBTRI4 Food Jar, Midnight Blue (Kitchen)
The best part of this product is the foldable spoon, which I now carry everywhere. I contacted Thermos to see if I could buy another but it's in demand and out of stock. The thermos itself is just the right size for a bowl of soup. I love to use it with tomato soup.

Pros:

* Compact size;
* Folding spoon;
* Easy to clean -- low profile;
* Great price;
* Clip for spoon;
* Tight lid ---- kept temperature for 7 hours --- I burned my tongue.

Negatives:

* Cup is a little small;
* Only comes in one color, like the model T ("They can buy any color they like, as long as it's black."(Henry Ford)).

I am thoroughly happy with the product after using it for 2 months.

I bought this as a birthday present for my girlfriend to take warm lunches to work. I was worried that it might be too small, and that the food would get cold. She says neither is true. She loves it and says that it keeps her lunches hot. Forget about the included spoon, that's just a marketing gimmick. I'm thinking of buying one for myself now.

Although my 10-yr. old loved the soups and stews that I made, she would always come home from school with most of them left in her thermos. Her reason; they were either lukewarm or cold by the time she got to eat.
Well, we decided not to buy any more "off the shelf" thermoses and to find one that, regardless of price, would keep foods hot or cold. Hence, we came upon this thermos. I carefully read the reviews, compared those to many others, and decided this was the best one we had researched.
Wow. My daughter, the most finicky eater on the planet, comes home every day with her thermos completely empty. In fact, she brags that by the time she opens it, it is still "steaming"!
Well worth the price. Be sure to pre-heat (see instructions), and the rest is epicurean heaven. Additionally, we LOVE the spoon that comes with it. It is a telescoping spoon with a very nice curvature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great, February 2, 2010
This review is from: Thermos Stainless King SK3000MBTRI4 Food Jar, Midnight Blue (Kitchen)
This thermos is amazing. I am amazed how warm it keeps my food. I heat up some leftover soup in the morning, toss it in my thermos, and it is still a tiny bit too warm by the time I go to eat it at lunch time (5 hours later)!. It seals very well, and I am not at all concerned with it leaking. I don't hesitate to just toss it in with all of my other items in my backpack.

I like that I can heat my food up at home in metal pots instead of microwaving plastic food storage at work. I have yet to try keeping things cold, but I don't think that will be a problem.

The spoon is usable, but it can not hold a lot of broth. If you have a soup that is brothy, I would suggest getting some deep spoons. Even though the spoon collapses, it is quite sturdy. I am an engineer, and I am impressed with the construction of it. The spoon can also be taken apart to make it easier to clean.

I have not tried putting it in the dishwasher. It seems like it would be OK, but I don't mind washing it by hand. I suspect if you are making your own lunches everyday, you also don't mind spending a few seconds to hand wash one of these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great food jar that really keep food hot, October 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Thermos Stainless King SK3000MBTRI4 Food Jar, Midnight Blue (Kitchen)
I bought this food jar for my mom because she only eat hot or warm food during lunch. She loves it. She told me that the jar is very compacted that can easily put in her handbag. It keeps the food HOT even after 4-5 hours. It doesn't leak at all, so she doesn't need extract bag to hold it. Even the jar looks small, but it is big enough to hold all the food she want for a lunch.

The only thing is, she doesn't like the spoon much. She prefer to use her own spoon. But this spoon is so compacted within the jar that can be useful in case she forgot her own spoon. I don't think the spoon is a problem. I will like to buy another one for myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect - I know it's just a Thermos, but... I LOVE it!, May 30, 2011

This review is from: Thermos Stainless King SK3000MBTRI4 Food Jar, Midnight Blue (Kitchen)
I bought a couple of these last year for me and my husband so that I can pack soup for us to take to work for lunch. I'd previously bought another product that didn't keep the soup hot and leaked all over the place, so was looking around for something from a more reliable manufacturer that would also meet my requirement of being able to fit in the available space in our lunch bags, with a lid that doubles as a bowl to eat from. We have this Laptop Lunch System 2.0 Power Lunch, Red, and there's just enough room in the carrying case to squeeze in a thermos if you can find one of the right size... the Stainless King was it!

First of all, I love the appearance of these. They're really nice, a very dark purplish-blue color stainless steel, with silver-colored outer lid/bowl. The inner lid screws on VERY tightly, preventing any of the leaking problems I had with the previous (off-brand) thermoses I bought, and also has a clever little telescoping spoon that clips into it. I've never actually used my spoon, but it's nice to know that it's there!

The jar keeps food PIPING hot for hours - I fill mine at around 7am, and when I open it at around 1pm, a ton of steam escapes and the food is still very hot. I will usually boil a kettle, fill the jars with boiling water and close the inner lids tightly to warm the jars up while I heat the soup (or whatever we're eating that day), then quickly discard the boiling water and replace it with soup (etc) and put the lid back on tightly so as not to let any heat escape. Works like a charm.

The other great thing about these is that they are EXACTLY the right size to hold a can of soup, if you're going for the store-bought option rather than making your own.

Really, really pleased with this purchase - sometimes little, everyday things can make you very happy, and these little food jars have done just that!

This thermos is great! Thermos keeps their promises. Keeps food hot for hours! Make sure that when you order, you clarify that yours will come with spoon. My thermos did not come with one although it should have. I contacted seller regarding the missing spoon and never did receive a response. :( However, the item is great!
