I've used this product to hem at least a dozen pairs of pans- cottons, synthetics- and a set or curtains. It worked great every single time.

The complaints of the previous reviewers make me think they didn't follow the directions. The tape has 2 sides (rough and smooth) and you have to start ironing with the correct side.

The only thing to note is that if you reheat it, you can undo the hem (exposing the adhesive). So, I don't put those items in the dryer and pay attention when you iron them. I've found that if the clothes get hot enough in the dryer, it can loosen the bond.

I have pants that I hemmed with this stuff 4 years ago and it's still secure- never had to redo it.

I keep this product on-hand at all times. It's been a real money-saver, I can buy pants on clearance even if they are too long and hem them myself.

This product is poor if you want to wash your pants more than 1 or two times after you use it. I wash my pants in cold or warm water only, and never put in the dryer when wet (I'll fluff it for 15 minutes after air-drying). The bond holding the hem completely failed on all 4 pants I used it on after as early as 1 or 2 washes and up to a max of 6 washes. Not only that, but the thick residue is still on there, making sewing a proper hem all the more difficult after the fact. Oh- and on some fabrics it creates a kind of a stain that comes through the fabric.

I had bought this product with the goal of doing an easy seam on my slacks of varying lightweight materials. The product claims that it will hold and stay for a was or dry clean. I just got it in case of "emergency" where I just needed a hem fast! Even as a temporary fix, it did not hold at all. After a few minutes it would fall off and I would apply multiple strips for "insurance" but it still did not work. It was more hassle and I just sew some temporary hems instead.

I could type a paragraph on why this product should not be purchased but simply it does not work. When it melts from the heat transfered to fabric via iron it is not sticky but turns hard and does not bond the fabric.

If ever there was a product that should be recalled for fradulent title and claims it is Heat n Bond. It does not work!

I picked this up from a local big box retailer rather than ordering it through Amazon since I was impatient. I have to admit that I was hesitant to purchase this at first, especially given all of the one star reviews. However, after having applied this to three of my work slacks (the only three I have, mind you) and after numerous wash cycles over the past three months I can safely say that this product works. One of the pairs of slacks that I hemmed using this product was even thrown in the dryer for no other reason other than sheer laziness and, even after going through a drying cycle on high heat, the hem is still holding strong.

I'd like to note that I used a hair straightening iron to apply the hem as I do not have access to a clothes iron or ironing board. I found this to be a lot easier as it took the guess work out of having to decide which side of the tape to iron.

On cotton this worked awesome. Hemline on a shirt and shower curtain holding fine.
But on a tightly woven satin/polyester blend, it didn't adhere well at all. Tried different temps and pressure. Came off easily still.

3/8" is the perfect size. On the things I sew , i usually have 1/2" hem so 5/8" and 1/4" are either too small or too large and this size is harder to find in the stores.
